diannep: Thank you. We are all coming for my SR's PIR 3-2-12. In fact I have been on the Ramada Inn's website and I am going to talk with my Mom (SR's grandmother) tonight about making reservations. I also have located the AT&T store so once finished on base after PIR, my SR can get his phone. Planning a great handoff at the airport! My SR is headed to San Antonio. Because of this site, I know what to get SR for his graduation: an anatomy coloring book and flashcards for A school. My dinner table is minus 1. Hard to adjust to. I am an executive chef by trade and I have noticed my home food expenses are low for this past week. I don't buy 3 gallons of milk a week anymore. :( There is so much to learn and read on this site. Whoever started this gets a big round of applase from me here in cold, snowy, Dayton, Ohio.

chefongreen:  Welcome to the club!  If my son was given the name of this site by his recruiter, he didn't pass it on to me either.  I had to go to google to find it!  Just looking for support!  Sigh....  :-)  AND,  I agree with FTLW!  Bring his brother!  Extras will get in...and in some cases, may not have to wait depending on the size of the PIR group.  He will love it!

Welcome to the new members here!  Please ask questions and read through the discussions above (hit VIEW ALL to get to all of them).  Lots of info up there!

Thanks for your comment FTLW. My SR's grandmother (my Mom) is on the list. He also has to put down the correct names (full names, not nicknames). Thanks so much for getting this group started. His younger brother is home from school and we are eating homemade soups on this cold Friday the 13th.

chefongreenst - Did he have four on the list total though? If he had four already that is the most that they can put on the guaranteed access list. If he did not...don't know what happened...you can write him about it...but this is only a preliminary list. They will make a final one in their final week of training...this is to make sure that it is correct as it nust have the legal name that matches the guest ID. Many write home Nana, Sis and such on the Form letter...have even seen the dog's name! LOL

BUT, you may bring extra's to PIR! They are asked to wait in the visitors center and then they will be permitted into the PIR hall provided there is seating. LaLa had 13 divisions in her Sailors PIR group and all of her extra guest got in.

Here is info from RTC website FAQ about this:

Q.
How many guests per recruit are allowed to attend Pass-In-Review?
A.

Four seats are guaranteed per recruit; however, children 12 years old and younger do not count against the four-guest maximum. The graduating recruit is responsible for identifying those individuals to be placed on the access list. Please coordinate with your recruit via letters regarding who will be on the access list. No additions, deletions or changes will be made to the access list the week of graduation. The four guests on the access list will be admitted into the ceremonial drill hall first. Additional guests not on the access list will have to wait inside the Visitor Center until after the start of the ceremony at which time they will be allowed into the ceremonial hall if additional seating is available as space permits. No additional seating can be guaranteed.  PLEASE DO NOT CALL FOR ADDITIONAL SEATS.  All visitors must have valid photo identification. This requirement includes children (school ID, Social Security card or copy of birth certificate). Please be aware that security may deny base admission to guests NOT on the access list if they are not accompanied by a guest who is on the access list.

I copied, pasted, revised the questionnaire, and mailed it. Stated that it had to be completed by week 6. Added a bunch of humorous stuff to it. All right Ladies/Gentleman, I have a question. My SR's father and I are divorced and both have remarried. We are on wonderful terms, that's not the problem. The problem is my SR left off his 14 yr old brother (my son with the ex) and his step-father (my spouse) for his PIR 3-2-12. His younger brother does not know this yet. What should I do? His brother has a passport for ID so getting on base will not be the problem . I'm at a lost so any help from you would be greatly appreciated. Lisa

Good Morning everyone, I hope you are finding lots of helpful information. FTLW is an elf and I am a queen lol. I think of Diannep like a boss lol, not that she tells anyone what to do, she is just awesome at having the right info and is very professional :-) And we love her. It is cool how we all have the things that we know more about and how we send you to the person who knows when questions arise. We are all here for you and happy to help.

Thank you all very much for assisting a "new navy mom". When I called my son's recruiter to get an address for him, I asked why I hadn't been given this site. He said he had given it to my son. My SR didn't pass the word. Oh well. I can't help thinking that the weather is horrible at GLRTC this am. It's 20 degrees here in Dayton and snow. I'm going to USPS to drop off all the letters I have written since I got the address in the "letter" yesterday. Going to write a couple letters today too. Thanks again. I too, look forward to meeting this group at PIR 3-2-12!

Just a heads up that airlines are going up in prices!  Surprise surprise!  One of the ones raising prices is Southwest.  Now, we N4Moms veterans advise you all to try and book with Southwest.  Why?  Because...there is NO CHANGE FEE--convenient if your SR gets delayed for any reason--and your first 2 bags ship for free.  They fly into Chicago-Midway (furthest airport) and Milwaukee (easier drive to GL because of NO TRAFFIC--usually cheaper too, but not always depending on where you fly from).

Sooo... once you get your form letter and know this is your date, you may want to go ahead and book on Southwest.  If not on Southwest, you may want to wait.  I don't believe the fare hike is extreme....but of course, with prices as they are anyway, ANY fare hike is not good!
