Jamie, no letters have been allowed to be written yet! We are hoping that this Sunday will be the day they can finally write/receive mail. They have to train the Recruit Mail Petty Officer (federal responsibility) before they can begin the mail process in the division. This takes a while.
Oh, and Sunday is almost always the first day they can write/receive mail. So the first letters from them to you all usually arrive anywhere from Wed-Fri, since they are mailed out on Mondays. In the beginning, they can only write once a week, but eventually are allowed more days to write/mail out in most cases.
Dianne's BACK! FTLW is so right...I'm not on late at night...but early in the mornings.
ok, jackiequeen: Hmmm....When we say the 2nd Sunday, we usually mean after the first ones have arrived at bc. This is regarding mail delivery. Processing days can go from a few days to close to two weeks for different recruits as they fill up the divisions--the ones who arrive first may have longer processing days. But, since they arrive at different times, one person's 2nd Sunday may not be another's?
Well, just know this. The first time they are allowed to write and/or receive mail is about 2 weeks from when the lowered numbered divisions (they fill first with the earlier arrivals) arrived. I just don't want ladies to worry about why they haven't received letters yet.
Now, once your SRs start training, please ask them what week/day they are on on a specific date. They may offer this info in a letter/call. Make a note of it on your calendar. The training days are counted 1-5...weekdays only. Weekends/holidays do not count. Monday is a holiday. Soooo....if a SR started training this week....say ---today is 1-2 (week 1, day 2), then 1-3 will not be until Tuesday next week rather than Monday. Sounds confusing but when you write it down, it's not.
They do BattleStations (final test) at the end of training week 6. They PIR during week 7. The lowest numbered divisions go through BattleStations first...but all PIR on the same day. I will be posting a BattleStations discussion above today. Be sure to read it to see what their final test is like before they are pronounced SAILORS! HOOYAH!
One day at a time here! HA! Too much info at once can overwhelm us...especially the "oldie goldies" like me! :-)
Good morning, all!
ok, i HAD to change the picture for the group. Hope it didn't confuse anyone. I will probably change it again.
I can't wait to meet all you wonderful ladies in person! 48 days to go! It has been a week and last night was the first time I cried. Getting the form letter was the straw that broke the camels back. And making this group. I don't know if it finally just sunk in or what! I guess what I really am craving from my son, is to know what he is doing. He went into this with goals in mind, is he meeting them? I would like to just talk to him.
I can't wait until PIR!! My boyfriend is ship 9 div. 076!
Thanks Jamie I'll call him tomorrow. Thanks
shadesofpurple - i went to see my daughters recruiter to get her ship/div. He was able to pull it up at the office
son left Jan 3 too. No letter no location yet.
Hi All - my daughter left for BC on Jan. 3rd. Wondering if anyone else had their child leave around the same time and have received any letters?
