Got my first phone call yesterday since Cody left other than the I'm here call. It was sooo good to hear his voice. We got to talk for 20 mins or so. He sounded really good and in good spirits. He wanted to know if the superbowl had happened yet? LOL...I told him this weekend. I have a smile no one can wipe off my face. I can't wait to see him and give him a huge hug. Got our hotel booked, now trying to find decent airfare prices.

jackie:  Remember that they are issued black backpacks so anything that can fit in those will not need additional luggage. If sending a laptop, we recommend that you get a cover/case for it (solid black) in case it doesn't fit in the backpack.

I just checked in with the Groton moms page. They said they can take their cell and laptops with them to Groton, we just have to give them their belongings at the airport...and it has to be in a SOLID black (or possibly navy blue) bag. No logos..solid only. I am checking on a size so I don't send a bag that is not appropriate, but I am thinking typical carryon is adequate.

Yes, I agree with diannep.  We had some information that wasn't accurate when my son graduated.  It's it a good idea to go into the group for your SR's A school and ask questions.  We recommend that you join those groups ahead of time anyway.  Just type in where your SR is going in the search for groups and you will be able to find them.  If not, ask here and we will be able to help you locate it.

Lala:  Wow!  So wonderful that she can choose from 6 schools!  Are they all in NC?  Congrats!

lesliet:  Be sure to ask the question about the cellphone/laptops on the Nuke/Goosecreek site here.  I had heard that they can take these and just have to lock them up until they can us them???  I would check on that site.  Sometimes the info the SRs receive is not quite true...like" no families can meet them at the airports and spend time with them before they leave for A School" (they CAN do this unless the sailors are on a charter flight).  I would doublecheck it.  I will say that my son went to A school with no laptop/no cell and I just mailed the cell later.  So it is not the end of the world if they can't have these yet.  Just make sure they have a phone card (although some may be able to borrow cells from those allowed to have them to call home).

Happy Dance!!:) Got my call from my SR. He sounded so good!!:) He said he has had bad shin splints for a couple of weeks. Praying that heals up quickly! He also told me I couldn't bring his laptop and cell phone to air port to give to him. He said he wasn't allowed to have them the 1st two weeks of A school:(. He will be going to SC for Nuke training so I don't know if that is just them.

Congrats to Div 79 for the win today! So close to 80!!! I keep forgetting about the trivia and miss it every time!!:(
