OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

That means there should be more calls probably coming in for other divisions. this should be a good week :-)

Some of the RDC's are more strict on what they can have. If you run out of things to write about try sending a letter from a pet if they have one.

The letter to my Sailor from our cat was hilarious. Our cat is huge and needs to loose some weight and when our Sailor was home she babied him and took VERY good care of him. She kept the bowl full all the time. and would share her popcorn with him. He loves popcorn lol. Well, I talked to the vet he put him on a diet. He had "special" food and I was measuring out what he could have twice a day. The cat "Shadow" was not happy with his rations and kept going to my Sailors bedroom door begging for food. So the letter told her that since she left we have been starving him and are rationing his food and we don't understand his needs and she needs to get back here or at least talk some sense into us. He went on to say that he knew she was all grown up and needed to spread her wings like "Charlie" (our bird) but he couldn't understand why she left him behind with people who don't understand his needs. And, he knows how much she loves shoes but did she really need to go to camp just to get some boots? They do sell those at the mall right? lol it was the funniest letter and she loved it hahaha

Only cried once during this whole time and that was when I got the form letter...Now, I am not doing so well. Hearing his voice and how bad he misses us is killing me. The tears are not going to stay away tonight. I have always been there for my kids and pushed them along too...it is all I can do to not drive down there and demand to see my son, pack his stuf in the car and come home...

Comment by Jamie SHIP13 DIV 067 on January 30, 2012 at 7:48pm: DIV 915 got to call today - 15 min - i will take it. My SR said they got to mail letters today too. That was the hardest call ever. I said hello and she started crying. Took everything I had not to cry. I didn't until we hung up.

I had sent one with a collage on the back and he didn't get to keep the pictures because of the crossword puzzle. He said he could keep pictures. He didn't say anything about the jokes but I put them in the body of my newsletters...maybe they don't see them.
