I got 2 letters from 2 different weeks delivered on the same day yesterday. I am crossing my fingers for a phone call tomorrow. I had one last Sunday. He also gave me a change of address, same ship, same div, different street.
@ Kaylathecat123-when did your recruit arrive?
The first call today. She is tired and cold and has a runny nose. She says it is harder than she expected but just wants to get through the next 6 weeks.
On the plus side, her clothes fit, the boot blisters are becoming callouses, the food is fine and she is the section chief and was asog for a day. I'm not sure what that last part is or if I heard correctly.
Good Morning!
"Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying
'This is the way, walk in it,' whenever you turn
to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left."

Recommended hotels from those on this site are:
Navy Lodge (IF you do not have a sailor staying in GL for A School--may have problems with those sailors visiting you in your hotel. No problems with sailors visiting who are flying out), Springhill Suites, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express. Other than Navy Lodge, the others are very near Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR for you all.. There are many other hotels in the area that you can google. Call the hotels directly and ask for the Navy Grad discount. You must actually call the hotel to get this rate. Navy Lodge doesn't offer one.
Good Morning! Hoping for calls today for you!
@ Navymom-We booked at Springhill Suites. Have heard nothing but good things from previous Navy families, so hoping for a good experience. I booked online and then called afterwards and was able to get a small discount when I told them we were coming for Navy Graduation.
Still waiting on letter from my daughter:( Hopefully today. CatMom509 I received a call last Saturday. You wrote they will be calling again this weekend? Just wanted to make sure the recruits that arrived on the 7th were going to call?
Also can you recommend a hotel? I did read we can't stay at the Navy Lodge?
Also I will be flying in. Is it easier to fly in to O'Hare or Milwaukee's airport?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Hey everyone, I want to give you a "HEADS UP" to be prepared to receive calls from your SRs this weekend! The call will show up as "847", "Waukegan, IL", "Pay Phone", or "Government" or anything else that may be unfamiliar. If it is a sales call, just politely tell them "No, thank you." Please also let your family members know about this too~~
During this time in Boot Camp, please keep your cell phones charged, ready, and with you all the time---upstairs, downstairs, out in the backyard, in the bathroom, out to get the mail, of course, out on errands. If you are going to a loud restaurant or a movie theater, remember to put it on "vibrate" and put in your pocket or some place you can feel it. They can call during the week or weekend, so just be prepared: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm (West Coast); 8:00 am - 8:00 pm (Great Lakes time); 9:00 am - 9:00 pm (East Coast).
