I thought of another question...Does anyone know the attire for PIR?  What do the parents wear?  We are coming from Southern California and we don't own anything warm AND fancy! Do I need to go shopping?

Hello fellow moms....I received a letter today stating that he is in charge of making the Divisional Flag?  Does anyone know what this means.  It was a short letter and I am at the point of needing any details I can get my hands on!  I miss him terribly!  March 7th is not soon enough!

Ok, gotcha.
All I have to go on is what he actually writes, trying not to fill the 'unknowns' in in my own.
I'll just continue to hope get to spend a bit more time with him.

I agree with Diannep, they are usually told that they fly out very early but they take that bus to the airport and then fly out all during the day. From what my daughter told me they don't even attach names to the flights they book until they have passed battle stations. So my fingers are crossed that he has a later flight than he thinks so you can have some extra time with him :)

diannep, I do believe that is his departure time from RTC. He stated that he would only have 9 hours to spend with us after PIR, so I am making the assumption that he has an early flight and was thinking we would not come to the airport. Hew offered no other for information.
I will absolutely go to the airport. I was just hoping for a half day or so to spend together. I am wondering if he doesn't want us to come to the airport because it was really hard for him to say goodbye at the gate with flight to RCT.
Hopefully I will get a call soon and I can clarify things. Man, I miss the ability to text him! Lol :) I forgot how sloooow snail mail could be ;)

Laura:  I'm surprised that he knows his flight info already?  They usually do not have that info until closer to PIR.  Are you sure he didn't mean that they are bussed to the airports very early on Sat. morning?  Because most of them are, even the ones leaving a little later.  The first flights out usually don't leave before around 6 a.m. or so....still very early, but you would at least get a few hours with him.  Take ID for your airlines gate pass so you can watch the plane leave!

Got my letters today (did the happy dance). I have to share with you a funny story. My SR forgot to say, "Good afternoon" to an officer of the deck so he was made to do pushups. The next time he saw the officer, he said, "Good afternoon" and got yelled at for "wasting his time with pointless courtesies!"  My husband and I had a great laugh over that!  

My SR had also been SIQ for 48 hours.  Had some sort of acute gastro intestinal something but they took extremely good care of him, gave him tons of medications and all he had to do was lay around for 2 days.  They do look after their recruits!

I got a letter from my SR today.  I can tell by the tone of the letters that he as already grown so much and has got a lot out of this experience already.  He says time is flying by, and that they marched past a group of SRs on their P-days and they were getting a speech about something, and he remembered standing in their place hearing the same thing and that it 'feels like forever ago."

The letter was a good news/not such good news letter.  Good news, he was promoted to Divisional Yeoman (DIV 102).  He said that meant he would be 'front and center at PIR and to get your camera and tissues ready, I know you and it'll be a tear-fest."  LOL, knows me well :)  Not such good news, he is flying out for A-school very early Saturday morning:(  I really thought that we would have the day at the airport together, but I have to be okay with this :)  I'll be driving his car out to SC in a little while anyway, so I get to start looking forward to that starting 3/8.

I hope everyone else is hearing from their SRs!
