I have a son in Ship 11 Div 083. Please comment if you have a child in this Division. Maybe we can meet on the 9th!

Letter today! Woo Hoo! Said they aced the Marlinspike and they are in the running for Hall of Fame Division! We have a great bunch of boys in this division!

Leslie, That is incredible news!!! Thank you so much for letting me know. I have not heard any news from my son since his letter dated 2/10 (no phone calls). He did tell me that he won the knot-tying contest a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the news, my son has only written to us twice so we scour all of your reports for any info!

ehuds, Ditto. I only received my third letter today from my son. I have mailed almost 35 cards and letters since i got his address. I know he is busy and does not have much time to write. It is like gold whenever I see an envelope from him in the mailbox! I'm sure you feel the same.

Absolutely.. My daughter in law said that no one is writing, but not true, like you I've been writing daily sending pictures, news, family trivia, and inspirational quotes I find on line. At least he writes her so I call finding out more info there too, but she isn't always so forthcoming in sharing the news. Anyway, this lack of communication will be over soon and we can call in the evenings and see how things are going. And it's not like I talk to him all the time anyway, but this is so important to his future. Will you be going to Chicago? We'll be there on Thursday after driving up from s Georgia.

Where are you driving from! We are also driving from S Georgia. We are leaving on Wednesday afternoon and driving all night. We are staying at the Ramada

Yes, we will be flying to Chicago and arrive at O'Hare mid-afternoon. We are staying at the Ramada. Like you, I am reading on this site that moms are receiving a 2 or 3 letters per week from their sons. As I said below, I have gotten 3 total! I hope you hear from your son. Will you be wearing a yellow scarf? The moms in Div 083 decided to wear yellow scarves so that we can identify each other at the meet and greets and at the PIR. We are making them out of yellow fleece and decorating them with blue anchors (mine is an applique). I look forward to meeting you in person!

Yes, I'll be participating in the yellow scarf and blue anchor tradition and am excited to meet all of you as we've created a endearing bond among ourselves. I've thoroughly enjoyed this site, I must admit. And how do we find out about Battlestations when our sons don't write us much? Guess it doesn't matter, it will be soon enough, and I keep my phone close by as you all do.

Ladies, I have a confession to make. I have been embarrassed to admit that I had not opened "The Box" all this time, for the past five weeks. I told myself that I had to open it this weekend. I have been putting it off because I knew I would feel sad when I saw his clothes and possessions. I finally opened it just a few minutes ago. Sure enough, I began to cry (and am still crying a little). I hope I do not sound like an emotional wimp - I guess part of me was in a bit of denial. When I opened it, I did smell his "hoodie," just like the other moms said they did. It WAS somewhat reassuring. I am washing his clothes now. I guess he disrobed quickly because all the clothes he was wearing were turned inside out! I just had to share with you. I am so grateful for this site!!

You are SO not an emotional wimp!!  Missing our children is part of what makes us moms...  Wish I could give you a big hug!!

Ladies, I had to delete the post with the BattleStations date in it.  We are not allowed to post on the main board or in the discussions.  When you get a date, please just advise on the main board/here that you have one and let people private message you for it.  I made note of the date before deleting...trying to keep a tentative schedule.

Sorry...when I deleted the post with the Battlestations date, it took the "replies" to that post with it.  Please feel free to post your messages again...without the BattleStations date.
