Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on February 25, 2015 at 7:50pm: Sadly, MamaBear, there is not much you can do other than be support for her when you write or she calls. She will have to be the one to pursue it up there, and many times they want to suffer in silence so that they don't get discharged, but it sounds like they are holding her anyway medically. I know it must be completely frustrating to you. I'm so very sorry.

They did X-rays and said they didn't see any fractures but we're on week 3 and she is still in pain. They posted pics on the navy fb and I almost cried. Not sure if we can post pics here. 3 weeks later why is it still swollen. They called it a bad bone bruise. I just feel completely helpless. They haven't cleared her off medical to do the physical part ( running push ups or sit ups ) I assume Cuz she is still on medication. Our dentist said he will open his office the day she graduations to check her out. But I don't know what else to do for her.

I assume that they are checking all ways with her. I hope that this is just some tissue damage causing the swelling and that she will feel better soon. Since you are getting info from her by her letters, I hope that she is feeling a bit better by the time you receive the next one. Prayers for her.

Sorry to that your SR is still in pain and they can't find where it is coming from. I will say and continue to pray for complete healing. Please keep us posted.
