Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

WooHoo! So glad we have a PIR group now. .... one step closer. My SR is my oldest of 5, first to fly to away! He arrived RTC 1/14. I received my "kid in a box" on Friday. (Remember to leave a note for Fed Ex as it is a signature required delivery). No call or letter yet. Hoping in the next week. My SR will be off to SC for the nuke program after PIR.
Thank for putting this group together! Made my morning as I am home from work with a miserable, puking 3 year old!

I should introduce myself ....My son was at bootcamp in 2009. He graduated early 2010. He was up there through Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, MLK Day, holidays. Hard for this mama, even though he had lived away so I was used to him being gone. Just not used to having Thanksgiving/Christmas without him!
He has now been honorably discharged and is using his GI Bill to finish up his Bachelors Degree.
I have been helping on this site since early 2010....love working on the PIR groups with all of you "newbies." I am thankful for the other ladies (and MAN!) on our N4Moms veteran team (names listed at the top). None of us could do this alone....we all work together to try and get as much info to you guys as possible!
A reminder to please read through the "Pages" section, above and to the right, under the MEMBERS PHOTO BOX, for lots of info! Ask any questions on here that you want...one of us will be glad to get to it!
Hang on for a wild and emotionally crazy Bootcamp Experience! :-)

To Carrie: My letter came much sooner than anticipated. I wasn't expecting anything for at least another week. But it seems that my later expectation is the norm, so be patient, your letter will get there soon.

Just want to say thank you to the folks that put this, and all of the information together for us. You ladies (and gentlemen) have really helped make the transition a bit easier for me. Thanks also to all the parents, spouses, loved ones that have added comments or helpful information. It really makes a big difference.

Good Morning!! My son arrived at GL on 15JAN and is in a 800 division so I know this is his PIR date. Haven't gotten his box yet, but did get the goofy "I'm here" scripted phone call on Wednesday night. He was so ready to ship out, since his best friend who is in the 805 division graduated 17JAN. We are only four hours away in Michigan and are counting down the days until PIR :)

Correct, Carrie! No news is good news! I think the only phone calls received by now would be the brief "I'm Here" calls, and not all make them right away (some family members never get them...but their SRs were fine). Depending on the division your son is put in, the box/form letter ... which are sent home separately ... could arrive anywhere from within the next 3 days to a couple of weeks from now. The higher numbered divisions in a PIR group (we don't know the division numbers in this group yet) usually mail these things out a little later (although some may get the box earlier...form letter may take longer).

My son made it to GL on the afternoon of 1/14 so I think this will be his PIR. I have not heard from him other than the I am safe and sound call on the 1/14. I am a little concerned because so many other people have received phone calls and their box. We are only 6 hours away. So I am trying to take a deep breath and remember no news is good news right?
