~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Oh my goodness Carrie, I know that probably just broke your heart. I agree, get those letters in the mail. And be sure and ask him for the password he wrote on the form letter just in case it gets lost in the mail. This early in training he will probably still remember it :) You will need it to print a gate pass for PIR. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Yea! Got Call from my son also! He sounded so Great! Said it was going well!
A few sore muscles, healing heel blisters and 4 wisdom teeth to get out soon but really sounded up and good :) also called his 85 year old Grandma, she was thrilled! What a relief! Congrats to the other Moms that got the calls today!

Carrie (sh 14 Div 104 PIR 3/14)  thank you thank you thank you!  Will get them addressed today and out! (but its div 104 not 14 right?)

Sorry to hear about his bruise, I can't imagine having a sore arm and then doing the push ups they had to do.  I am glad that he doesn't need a class 2 swim qual for his job but I know that he does try to overachieve so he was bummed he didn't get that far.  I am just glad that everything they have had to pass so far he has.  It's it great to have heard from them?

 blessed beyond measure

Our boys are in the same division,

The address should look like this

SR Name

Ship 14 Div 14

3410 Sailor Drive

Great Lakes IL 660088

My SR had the vein split when they went to draw blood and has a bruise up to his elbow.  He does not have to have his wisdom teeth out in BC but will need them out later.  Did awesome on the swim but he was on a national swim team for 6 years, struggling with the push ups.  He says the guys around him are great, the unit is struggling but he sound so upbeat that they would make it work.

One happy mamma here!  Got a call from my son this morning at 6:22 am and we were able to talk for the whole 20 minutes that were on his calling card!  He sounded so good and in so high of spirits!  We have a 1-10 code for 10 being best place in the world and he gave me an 8.  That is so exciting to hear. I know that reading all of your messages of your calls, helps to fill in the blanks of the conversations we did get to, so here is what we talked about.....He said the reason it is an 8 is because of all the shots made him sick.  He almost passed out from so many needles and the peanut butter shot guy was brand new and put it in and then had to do it again and deeper and he was sure (said with a laugh) that he was a volunteer just learning...LOL!  I haven't heard him this upbeat for such a long time.  I think he is surprised by how much he is enjoying it.  He told me that he is the board yeoman who is the note taker and schedule maker and works in the RDC office. This is so ironic as we were always on him to write it down!  He never took notes, never jotted messages, and would ultimately forget to tell us, or what he was sure he would remember!)  He said they have a senior chief, a chief and a petty officer as RDCs. He said ships usually never get senior chiefs.  I am not sure if he meant this in a good way or a bad way but it sounded like he was pleased.

He said they are currently on day 1-2 hold and have been in P-days in what feels like forever.  He told me that division 104 is an all male division and 103 is their brother division right across from them and is all male as well.  He told me they did their swim quals already and he passed and tried for level 2 but didn't know how to do the correct side stroke (as he never had that stroke required in swim team).  He said that he believes that wisdom teeth come out on 3-5, but he got his glasses with a new prescription and loves them.  They are flexible frames so they can be manipulated to fit perfectly and are really light and comfortable.  He told us that the food was "AMAZING" compared to what he thought it would be; however the chicken is mushy and the apples are brown and soft.  He did say the salads are great.
He told me his ship got IT for no one doing their bunk right (storing stuff) and they had to do 10 ...10 count push ups which he said were torturous as the count was really slow and they had to hold forever. But he said it laughing so I know he'll survive.  He is enjoying his bunkmate who is helpful, friendly and intelligent.  He laughed at the fact that of course Donald Quinn had to retire yesterday so no his chain of command is a bit off now but the new guys name is White so that is easy enough.  He said they were calling from the Naval Exchange which was a mile from the ship and that he was off to there to get a few things after the call.  He said that everytime they step outside there is more and more snow, but he NEVER once mentioned the cold and considering what we are hearing about their weather, and his California blood, that is a VERY GOOD thing!  He did confess that he was caught talking early on when he was there and called out for it, but assured me he learned his lesson and was doing great.
I cant believe how much of a relief it was to hear his voice, be able to talk, be able to hear him laugh.  I can't stop smiling.  It is amazing how much stress that one short phone call took off my sholders.  He was able to let me know he is in ship 14 div 104.  So now I can start writing!  Anyone in the same ship, can you give me the exact way and the completion of the address I am supposed to use?  Pretty please?

Thank you everyone for all your prayers, the Lord has given me a peace about the whole situation.  So no matter what he decides I am proud of him.  Congrats to all the ladies who have been receiving letters.  That is so exciting to receive the first letter.
