Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks for your info on the "bun training!" At least they gave them more information than my Sailor daughter received 2 years ago, which was nothing! She learned it watching a YouTube video from a gal called PlasmaSpeedo--funny, but she learned!! Think others teach it too~~ So, I don't understand allowing the long hair, but not allowing practical training with their hair. Oh, well, I'm sure that the program will evolve with each PIR group.

She said they watched a short video on the bus and were taught the regulation dimensions, etc. Then the RDC told them that they could purchase a "bun sock" at the exchange. They received no sort of training or followup on managing a bun, so my wife was grateful that she cut it short. I think any future SRs should train themselves, because they won't get much help when they get there!

I think most N4M families post pics on their own wall, so you can see them if they are your friend or there is some sort of main wall you can go to see pics here. Maybe go to the MAIN page up in the upper left~~

I hope you were able to trade emal addresses with that family to email them a reminder about the pics~

Awww, that's really too bad your Sailor wife's recruiter didn't let her know about not need to cut her hair, but at least I know she got a cute style because she had it done at home by a stylist and a good thing about hair is that it continues to grow!! Lol!

Yea, I'm really curious about the training of females putting their hair up in buns or what. Thank you for following up on that~~

Sounds like they added 1 minute to the females' showering routine!

Well, I think there is not much marching in A school or not as much, so that would be good for your wife. Tennis shoes for marching would sure be a relief for the new SRs~~
