N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My son was chosen to design their division flag! He is happy to contribute this way - said he's pleased with it. I can't wait to see it at PIR!!
Again, a proud Momma!

Thank you on the advice regarding ISIS - I won't send it now but will save clippings until after PIR.
Good Morning to all!
Peace & Love.

...by the way, since he asked about ISIS, you could just write in your letter that our nation along with many others now who have been affected by ISIS are working hard to resolve this terrorist situation....

Proud Mom:  So glad that you got the call!  But be careful what you send him about ISIS, etc that is negative info.  There is a reason that the RDCs do not want them to know outside info!  They want them to stay positive and concentrate on becoming sailors.  Any POSITIVE news ( which I don't think ISIS qualifies as)....is great to send them.

Good Morning!

Congrats on your call too MamaKats!

Proud Mom - Congrats on the call!

:-( I know it is hard for them to be cut off from "the world" but it I'd something that they have to get used too. His concern is admirable.

Recruits may not receive newspaper/ magazine articles, without permission from their RDC. So I would make sure before you send anything. Since they won't tell Mich they may not want that kind of news sent right now. It varies from RDC to RDC.

I received my first phone call tonight!  Made me so happy to hear his voice!  He's very concerned about what's going on with ISIS!  He kept asking what's going on - he said they won't tell them much but he's heard bits and pieces.  He asked for articles on it. . .   breaks my heart to think about it!  We talked for over 20 minutes!

Sarah's Mom,

We also brought our Sailor daughter several of her own favorite pretty bras and underwear to choose from as well as her cell phone, cell phone charger, the ac adapter for her laptop, and a favorite snack (dark chocolate covered almonds) that she requested.  We stuffed all this into her backpack too.  (Undies in discreet plastic bag).

Does your daughter like to have her eyebrows done?  We brought my daughter to have them shaped at a salon after PIR and the name and location is up in my Pertinent PIR Tips up in the Discussion Forum~~
