N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My SR is Ship 14, Div 118- as I understand their brother Division is 117- I don't know if that is right, feel free to let me know not- but brother Divisions train together so they will know each other- I would like to connect with mom's from either so we can compare notes. =)

Hi!

Welcome to Navy for Moms!!

My Sailor Daughter's PIR was March 2013--can't believe how fast time has flown!.  She is an IT3 (Information Systems Technician, Petty Officer Third Class). I primarily provide scriptural encouragement for the PIR groups, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and a few of the other groups that I am a member of.  I'll also help out with anything that I am familiar with--all kinds of tidbits I learned during my daughter's Boot Camp experience~~  This site really made the time go much faster.  I'm so thankful that my Sailor daughter sent me the link for this awesome group of friends when she enlisted!!  Count 9 Fridays and before you know it, you'll be seeing your baby again at PIR!!  Here we go!!!

JoJo'sMom:  Yes, you can write letters to your SRs.  I assume you have received the form letter since you know you are in this PIR group?  If you have not received it yet, but you got the PIR info from your recruiter, then wait for the form letter which will have a mailing address in it for you.  Your SR completes the form letter so you will get to see his handwriting!

Just remember....the mail is held from the SRs until they have been there about 2 weeks, after the Recuit Mail Petty Officer is trained for their division.  They normally receive this held mail on a Sunday but sometimes earlier.  They write their first letters to you before they receive this first mail....therefore, in your first letter from your SR, he/she may ask why you haven't written?  But actually, they received your letters right after writing to you.

Once this held mail is received, they will be able to write on Sundays, mailed out on Mondays, and will receive mail M-F.

Good Morning!

Welcome back, Gretchen!  So proud that you have a sailor serving for so long!  You will be able to offer lots of advice to the ladies on here from your sailor's experience.

ProudMom and lindsey:  One of you should friend request the other and then you can chat by private message re: your SRs and get last names (no SRs' last names are allowed on the public sites....just private message) so when you talk to your SRs, you can see if they know each other!

Good Morning!
