~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Annychiquita,  I'm so sorry to hear that your SR is in RCU, but I know that they are taking good care of him and he will bounce back better than ever!!!  Keep the faith!  You're doing great!

Good Morning Everyone !  Have a great weekend!

Ditto what ellen said, Annychiquita.  Once they exit RCU, they have new exuberance in their new PIR group to get it all done!  They have had plenty of rest/healing and are ready to become sailors.  Once he calls you with his new PIR info... you can contact the Public Affairs Office with your old PIR info (from the form letter).  They probably will ask you for all of that, including your original password, before giving you the new password -- so keep that form letter in a safe place!  This happened to me with my son since he was asmoed (setback) a week when at bootcamp.

Thank u ellen0502 for the info. I don't know what to do without u girls...feel better now ;)

Annychiquita, You will not receive another form letter, but your son will call you when he is put into another division after RCU. No reason to be sad at this point, he is still on the path to be a sailor and that is what matters.

After RCU when he is placed in another division there is a way to get the new password, so no worries.

Hang in there, know his PIR day will come, and he will find his next group will also be very supportive. :)

Thank u Diannep, I was super nervous, cause my boy got sick, and now he will be
behind...maybe will be depressed to be in a different team...I am super sad.
My question now is: Will I receive a different form letter? I mean, he will have PIR
in a different date....a very worry mom...
Comment by diannep on February 28, 2014 at 8:09pm

Annychiquita:  He will be in RCU until they medically rule him fit for training again....or medically discharge him.  Stress fractures are very common in Bootcamp, so try not to worry.  They can take a while to heal, but then most who have them will graduate!
