~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

The weather this year has been horrible....Praying it all melts before March.

As far as sending my Valentine in an all white envelope....too late as it is in a red envelope, but I think everyone knows he's married....when we talked on the phone he told me his accent has drawn a lot of attention as my husband was raised in Paris and French is his first language-English is his Fourth (he speaks 5) and was a translator for the Associated Press prior to deciding on a career change so he has gotten LOTS of personal questions from all sides to find out his background and he has a copy of my passport and has been showing that off before bed (which was a pretty creative way for him to have a picture for bootcamp)

Sorry I have not been here today. It snowed all day yesterday and then it went away, woke up to snow this morning and then it went away. We are expecting 10-14+ inches of snow in the next two days (I am in North Carolina). So I spent the last two days getting ready to be snowed in for a while. I got a lot of work done, went to the post office to ship goodies, rented 3 movies and went to the store and bought milk and bread so we should be good lol. I bet everyone in Atlanta is staying home so they don't have a repeat of last week. this storm is going to be much much worse that the last one. I hope you all are somewhere warm and cozy :)

Cards are fine, but preferably in plain white envelopes!  No stickers/glitter/writing on outside but mailing info.  Just to not draw attention to your SR!

I sent two Valentine's day cards to my husband, one from me and one from our daughter.

Comment by Jennifer on February 11, 2014 at 10:36pm
Teetsmom, if we are not supposed to send them then it's too late for me as I already mailed my husband a card for Valentine's day, if he doesn't get it then I'll buy him another one after bootcamp but if there is a chance he could receive it then I'm taking it because I want him to know I'm thinking of him while he's gone.

Hello everyone.  I was wondering if any of you were sending valentines cards to your SRs'.  I bought a card to send to him and my husband didn't think it would be a good idea.  He was a Marine and any time they got cutesy things sent to them in the mail they would get picked on by their instructors.  Just wondering what folks in this group thought.  Thanks.
