Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My husband (who is also DIV 919) called too. I knew I missed him but I think the amount I miss him increased tenfold after talking to him. He said he wrote me a six page letter which he mailed today which gives me something to look forward to.

Lorraine:  Do not send anything to your SR unless he asks for it.  Yes, makeup for the girls for piks/PIR and contacts are allowed, but let your SR ask for them or ask in a letter and wait for an answer.  Nothing is worse than a box/large envelope arriving for them with something like that in it, they don't know what it is, and have a scary moment thinking they will get in trouble!  They won't, but they need to be the ones to initiate you sending these things.

Hi All,
My son called today! I was so relieved to hear his voice. He said he is in the toughest division (919) and sounded tired. I gave him encouragement to keep hanging in there.
It's so hard when you can't be there to "shield" them.

Yesterday I was wondering about when recruits get their pictures taken, and I just noticed a box with several links on this page just below the members box. The 5th link down tells you all about that. I also didn't realize I can send my son's contact lenses and a little bit of solution 2 weeks before PIR. I don't know if those links have always been there, but I'm always finding so much good stuff on this site!! It's amazing :)

Good Morning to all the new members of our growing Navy Family!!! Sorry I have not been here for a few days. I had computer issues and could go to every site I tried except this one. I am just glad that problem is fixed. I was worried I would never be able to come here again and that caused a sick feeling in my stomach lol. We are so happy to be here to help you through this journey and we are very happy to have you here. If you have any questions at all please let one of your veteran members know or just post here on the wall. One of us will see it and help you out  You are among the lucky ones who find this site and/or the facebook group and form a long lasting bond with others who understand what you are going through  I know it seems like boot camp will last forever but it will pass much faster than you ever thought. The days may seem to drag but the weeks pass quickly Welcome!!!!

TaylorsMom:  Sadly, only your SR can give you this info.  RTC will not release any info on your SR if you contact them.  As long as you have the PIR date, Ship/Div number, and password to get gate pass, you should have all of the info you need.  We can help you with the rest.  Hope you hear from your SR so that you can ask....so sorry....

I hope it works out....

Good Morning All!

Thank you, diannep, for the reply.  I will ask him for a copy, but I am not sure he will give me one.  In the event he doesn't, is there any other way I could find out when he truly graduates and the gate code to go?
