Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

...you are right, CatMom. That stuff goes right over my boys' heads! Didn't get pinched by either of them....they didn't have green on either! What party poopers we are....but they are grown men with their own lives! I don't think they even KNOW the "green rule!" :-)

I am waiting, waiting, waiting for my husband's I'm a sailor call......I want to hear my husbands voice.....I've been working out since my husband left and I reached my goal weight today (just in time).....Going to rent a car tomorrow for driving.....this is all getting REAL can't believe this journey is so close to over

Didn't wear green, CatMom. Sigh.....such a party pooper! But had a 10 hr day here with my grandson (and son) so I was in casual clothes and "safe" from people pinching! :-)

Got a phone call from my husband in 112 tonight. :) He sounded much better now that he was rested up after battle stations. I can't how many times either of us said we can't wait for Friday. Almost there!

For all mom you may want to look into joining a local chapter of Blue Star Mothers. They are an organization of military moms and dads. Our group send care packages twice a year and many more things to support the service members. They are also their to support each other. You can search for them on line.
