N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ladies, below is the link to a video about a sailor named Brett Parks.  Brett's grandparents are my parents' best friends, his mom is one of my best friends, her children are great friends of my sons....we have a connection that has spanned between our families over 70 yrs.  He is the one who influenced by son to go into the Navy...he went in a year before my son....Brett is in the aviation program and is based in Jacksonville FL...he was about to start the process of discharge since his contract was complete....when.....this happened.  A personal trainer on the side, he ran a bootcamp in the community.  He was at an apt complex, meeting up with a new client, when he heard screams for help.  Ever the sailor, always ready to help in any given situation, he ran towards the sound of the voice, right into the attacker....who proceeded to shoot him....Oct 17, 2012...his life changed forever.  He recently was honored by U of Florida Shands Hospital, and this is the video shown that night....I know it is about 15 min long...but I will tell you....it is well worth watching.  I have had the privilege of watching Brett grow up....I was with his mom/family every step of this tragic story...just like his precious mom was with me every step when my husband died suddenly 11 yrs earlier.  Brett exemplifies what your SRs are made of....the "hero" in him.  Let me know what you think of this:

Good Morning All !

Deb he was, but he had to play cymbals as he lost his spot due to recovery time after having wisdom teeth removed.  It was so good to see him, I think he looks so much younger, hoping being a navy wife has the same fountain of youth effect on me.
