Thank you all. I think springhill suites will give me easier options while still close to base. I plan to visit in pt hueneme ca too, so I can check out the Navy lodge there instead.

Welcome blue cougars!  Please read through the PAGES info, top at the right, for lots of info.  It may help for you to scroll back and read through the posts on this page also....lots of questions answered there.

Welcome to K-1s Mom too!

Jodie:  He probably won't know all of that until he goes through INDOC at the A School.  That is when he will get all of the A-School specific info.  INDOC is the orientation period when they arrive on a new base so he will get the info right away.  He may also get some kind of info at Bootcamp  about you joining him, etc., but not sure how much they get there.

Hello All,

My son left from Philly area on 2/3, we got his box on Monday along with the form letter.  Really hoping for a call this weekend.  He is ship 14 div 127.  Booked at the Navy Lodge for PIR, as he is heading out of GL after graduation.

I have another question. When do they get their orders for after bootcamp? Like I know my husband will be going to A school in the great lakes after bootcamp. But when will we know how long schooling is, and if and when we can join him? Is that during PIR weekend or will they know before that?

Jodie,

It's really unpredictable on the calls.  The supervised security info calls come during the week where there is no extra chit chat.  The other calls that are scheduled or earned can come any day.  Just be sure to have your cell phones charged up, ready, and with you at all times during Boot Camp.  When the PIR groups come to the 4th week and on during intense training, the calls will lessen and you'll look forward to their letters more.  But always just be prepared because SRs do get surprise reward calls~~

Hi olga, my son is 13-122 also and I haven’t got anything yet.  I was just asking yesterday if there is a specific day to expect mail.
Friday, my son told me he had wrote a lot of letters already for me to give to some people.
