They can wear underwear that is colored, but it does have to be a solid color, preferably light colors, and avoid pink and purple. LOL Forget the Sponge Bob SquarePants, Superman underwear, paisley prints and striped, those not so well accepted.

started packing today. A little overwhelming, but I can't wait until I see my son. Only four more days.

Thanks for the info. My son will be flying out to A school. I think I will just take his cell phone, a few pairs of underwear and his favorite socks. Maybe his Navy tee (he was a Depper), and a pair of gym shorts. All of it will fit into his navy backpack, so I think it will be fine. I can ask him after graduation how much of it he wants to take, and meet him at the airport with it.

Thanks for all the info on what to bring him to the airport. I finally found some solid white boxers at Walmart to bring for his dress whites (Thank goodness, didn't think I was going to find them). I also am bringing his colorful ones to wear at other times. Funny how these little things are important to them now.

Yes, Monica.  You can bring her everything she wants since she is staying in A Schoo in GLl.  By the time you see her on Liberty, she will know what kind of space she has to store things and if you have too much for her, you may be taking some back home.

Hi. I have a son stationed in Japan who has just re~enlisted and my daughter is in div. 119. I read some of the post and my daughter is staying at Great lakes for her A school. Can I bring her all her things incluting shoes that she stated she wants after graduation. I dont want to pay for extra baggage on the plane if sfhe cant have it.

b_radsmom:  Sounds like your sailor is flying out, but you were wondering if he can return to RTC with some things after Liberty before you meet him at the airport.  He really can't take anything back to RTC with him, so all that CatMom listed below, like she posted, needs to be exchanged at the airport.  It is best for him not to take too much, since it really needs to fit into his carry on backpack.  Their seabag and garment bag (uniforms) which are checked luggage are packed pretty tight!  You can ship any other items he wants to his A School.  My son had a short A School so opted just to purchase a few things at the NEX (civilian clothes) for that short amount of time, and then he got his clothes when he came home on Leave before reporting to his Duty Station.

b_radsmom,

Is he going to A school at Great Lakes or flying out?  You can bring more stuff for him only if he is going to Great Lakes A school and he can take stuff only after they have switched over to that side of the base.  He can't bring anything to the barracks wih him if he is flying to his A school.  His items can only be given to him at the airport.

Bring his cell phone, cell phone charger, laptop, a/c adapter, own comfy underwear, maybe a couple of casual shirts, favorite snacks from your area.  All this should fit into his Navy issued backpack or the clothes into his seabag.

He can have a little more casual clothes/toiletries only if he is going to the Great Lakes A school.
