Anyone else have loved ones in this division? I could use some help understand what this division is about, the note on the back of the form said he is in the drill division. I know that means he preforms at his PIR and two before his, but I'm curious about what that means as far as his time in RTC and after.

My son is also in this division.  He wrote me a note on the back of the form letter.  He said it's an advanced division called a staff division in charge of running graduations actually. They train twice as hard and learn everything twice as fast.  This is all according to him.

@ nightingale: My Son also. Still haven't rcvd my letter : (   But I got his box Tues. And his Ship and Div info from his Recruiter that day also. He left on Feb. 1st . When did your's leave?

My husband left on the first as well. I received his letter yesterday morning with a note on the back. He wrote that everyone in this division was handpicked and that it is an honor to be chosen even though it is going to be harder than most.

Still no form letter, starting to get worried? I wonder why I haven't gotten it yet. We are in Indiana and I know that the mail doesnt take that long.............

My son left on Feb 2nd and I just got his letter telling me that he is in this division.  He did not tell me anything in his letter about why he is in this division, so this information is very helpful  :-)

Looking forward to meeting you all at PIR.

I wish mine would come soon so I can know for sure. My son left the 1st.

My son is also in this division but did not say anything about this division being different than the others.  He left Feb 2 and we got the letter Thursday and his box on Friday.  I had heard that he might get to keep his Cell phone there and use it when he got to make a phone call but it came home with his box.

They don't allow cell phones. That is why they said to send the calling cards, when they can make calls it will be from a pay phone. Mine came back in multiple pieces for some reason, not sure if he was mad at the phone or if he was told to do that.

My son is also in this division.

Does anyone know if this division is the ceremonial group I have heard about and if this is a good or bad thing for them?  I have read some things about a ceremonial group that sounded like it holds them back from going on to their training.

It doesnt hold them back, it is an honor to be picked for this division. This will give the men more responsibility while in RTC, they complete all the standard training plus train and preform in two PIRs prior to their own.

My husband is in this ship and division! I talked with his recruiter and he said that this is a very good thing! He was really blowen away only because they handpick this division. It is an honor he said. They do many things for the graduation. They do all the same work as the other but maybe just a little more when it comes to drills and graduations things. Navy salors that hold flags at the football games or when there is a funeral they stand this is somthing that reminds me of this division. I am not sure what it means after RTC though.
