Hi There, I am completely new to military life. I just got my first real letter yesterday and it was MORE then wonderful to hear from my son. He said their RDC's are awesome and really have alot of experience but still do alot of yelling. :) But he has the "I'm not quitting" attitude about him. He said they made it clear that their Div. is not a normal one and lot more is expected of them. Which I know he expected before going in.
If anyone knows of good places to stay for Graduation I would love to hear about them. I am very grateful for this forum and the connection to the rest of you ladies. GO NAVY !!!!
GImom I stayed at the Residence Inn in Waukegan. They had a free shuttle to PIR, very helpful. Or if you are on a budget, the Navy Lodge is inexpensive if you book early. The PIR rate is around $65, but those room rates go quickly. Its not fancy, but clean and serves its purpose.
Sjtina, Thank you for your reply. It all can be so very overwhelming with booking flights and choosing places to stay. I do appreciate your help. Did you book your flight directly through an airline or use an internet site? I have only flown one time before and really am not sure about flights.
sjtina, I was checking this out. This is the one on White Oak Dr.? It looks really nice. Also, are there restaurants you recommend? Thank you so much. Really.
Makes me fell better when others are doing ok in the same group and division, hopefully he will start feeling better and it wont be as hard, I am looking forward to the next letter hopeing for a better one, with more time having passed. he is like the rest of your sons, He is not a quitter.
Recently made all of our arrangements for graduation. Is anybody staying at the Residence Inn? Was looking into some of the meet and greets and was hoping maybe if anyone else in this div is thinking of attending one of them that maybe we could all try to go to the same one?
To GIMom: We booked through Southwest directly. Sometimes when you use the other sites you may get a good deal but you usually cant change anything. When you go through Southwest you can change dates and all you have to pay is the difference in rates. The rates were actually the same as the other sites I checked. The only thing with Southwest is you go into Mil. Airport, not Ohare. A slight bit further but not as congested. Then we reserved a rental car through Mil Airport. (my 2 cents, for what it is worth)
judge, Thank you that is most helpful to know about Southwest. I did see that Southwest flies into Midway also. I still need to decide on the flight to choose. We are booked at The Courtyard. They strongly recommend to take the shuttle instead of driving in. Your 2 cents are worth alot to me....Thanks !
GIMom I suggest the shuttle, only because the line of cars to get in is really long and slow moving due to checking each car. The shuttle gets you close to the doors where there is another line to get in. If you take the shuttle you will only have to be checked in once.
sjtina, Yes, I think you are right. The shuttle does sound like the way to go. Thank you.
Hey ya'll..(sorry, from Texas)...what are ya'lls plans for a meet and greet. I sure would like to meet you. We will be at Springhill Suites. Are we supposed to wear a ribbon?
Sancy
Hi Sancy, I love your "ya'lls" :) I do not know about the meet and greets. It would be nice to meet everyone. I am not sure when we will be arriving yet. But we will be at The Courtyard. What is this about a ribbon?
