We received our form letter Thursday and was very excited to get it. Saying a prayer and keeping my fingers crossed for the March 30th graduation.
Hi Tora. Thanks for the update. None of those names are familiar to me, but just the same, it is great to hear about your son! Wish those boys would quiet down so everyone doesn't have to suffer! Stay in touch! PIR here we come!!!!! Cindy.
names are not familiar to me either but it is great that he is making friends. I look forward to receiving another letter from mine. His last letter he said he was making friends but did not mention names. I hope they can make calls this week!!!! Thanks for sharing :)

OMG what a great way to start the weekend. Hugs Tora
Hi to all! I too got a call today! My son was very emotional...very teary which is not like him at all. I'm sure it was a rush of mixed emotions. He also mentioned that the next two weeks were going to be tough. He talked about inspections. I didn't ask many questions, just let him talk. Does anyone know what these inspections are all about? I think he was glad to talk with his MOM! I just can't wait to hug him at PIR!!!
HI Janis, Good morning from the Northeast! Opposite sides of the country. My husband's very close friend moved to your neck of the woods after graduating medical school. I believe it was an offer he could not pass up and he now has a young family and loves it there!. We keep saying we will visit. One of these days!! This N4M's is VERY comforting. I look forward to reading the posts everyday!
I am on a new high since talking with Joe and just finished a 3 page letter and cut out the NHL box scores. He says he is having withdrawals from hockey. It sounds like a lot of them are now mentioning that they love the mail and being connected to their outside world.
Well, I am taking out my daughter snowshoeing today. It is a winter wonderland out there! Finally. It is our first snowfall since Joe left for boot camp. The trees are sparkling white with the sun shining through.. I just have to get out there before it melts!! I can mail my letter at the same time. have a great day!! Cathie
Hi Janis, Thank you we had a great time. We ended up snowshoeing with some friends. I have a dear friend that owns over 30 acres of wooded land and we went exploring. We followed a beautiful brook and went through some pretty thick wood. It was challenging but definitely a workout! I will be sore in the morning since it was the first time I have actually had time to take out the snowshoes this year plus we haven't really had a whole lot of snow this year. I am glad to see Dan was impressed. I think we take for granted how well we take care of snow here. I hope you enjoyed your time writing to your son. Have a great evening!
Hi my name is Michelle and my son Brian is in Ship 12/Div 100. He is 23 and we live in RI. I have been reading the posts from my phone but was having trouble writing on this wall. I am finally on my computer and can connect with everyone. We got our 2nd letter today and we got a phone call too. My son sounded in very good spirits and said that he was excited to get his dog tags and uniforms. I can't wait to see him in his uniform at PIR. I am so proud of him.
He told us that they had a test this week that he passed and that he passed his inspections too. He didn't pass the PT test. He has been a little behind in that area because the day he got to BC he started coughing. Within the next couple of days things got worse. He went to medical and they said he had bronchitis and gave him an antibiotic. He said he is feeling better but he's still trying to catch up physically.
He said that he was up before sunup and was outside shoveling and able to watch the sun come up even though it was cloudy. This made my husband and me laugh because he always complained about having to shovel.
My son said that getting letters and cards is very encouraging. We have been sending him letters regularly but after talking to him today, we went and bought a bunch of cards. We took it to the store he worked at before leaving for BC and left it for the employees and some of the customers to sign. One of the girls he worked with whose husband is a Marine is going to mail it to Brian this week. We addressed the envelope and put the stamp on it so all they have to do is put it in the mail. We are going to do this at my husband's police dept, my daughter's job and at our church. This is just a suggestion to help the boys get more mail.
Not sure if you ladies know this or not, but on Facebook RTC has a page
On Tuesdays they do Trivia Tuesdays, giving us a chance to win a picture of our SR div..
I just recieved a letter from my son. He sounded great and kept the letter short and sweet because not a lot was going on. Lots of marching and getting ready for hell week. He did not mention when they may be able to call so if anyone else hears please let us know!! I am sooooo looking forward to PIR.....29 days!!!!!
Hi Cathie. I too rec'd a letter today. My son mentioned how uncoordinated their marching is. He is a drummer and marched in band. I will be writing to tell him to be patient with his division mates. I'm sure they will shine by PIR!!!!!! He made no mention of the week that lies ahead. Thats probably good as all I do is worry anyway! We made it to March. PIR here we come!!!!!! Great to hear from you.
