OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

FTLW - The sad part is that Captain Underpants cartoon actually made me look good.
Comment by martine (paul's mom) on February 18, 2012 at 1:21pm

Prayers & heart felt compassion go out to the family & friends of the young SR that passed away.  I cannot even imagine.  So sad.

capt'n i do so appreciate your honesty... and so true about the power of a women united in action and the power of their prayers... so i guess we won't recognize your by the capt'n underpants then at M & G? ; )

Yes, I can say that there are many getting the boot out of the Navy at this point...orders from "the top" to downsize and do it now.  It is a very sad situation...

Hmmm...it is too late for me to digest that one Captain...but I'll chew on it for a while. BTW...I took down my pic because I wouldn't want anyone to think I was making fun of you! Wouldn't dream of it! I had just used it on the other group when the topic came up...but it kept striking me funny as I looked at it...so down it goes!
I get kinda silly at times...need the humor as much as I feel the need to help some of you just laugh a bit as you all go through this emotional time.
We all have our "niche" on here ,us veteran moms, all on a volunteer basis. We've each spent much time searching for the most accurate, up to date info for you...and continue to do so as things change. I've spent a lot of time reading and trying to figure out how to get around this site...this from a technotard! N4M CG and OPSEC are another of my "little friends"...so the humor...its gotta be there too for me! I'll try to behave myself as much as possible!

Alismz - I'm a navy veteran, but very much a boot when it comes to being a parent of a Seaman Recruit. FTLW easily outranks me in that department.

As for the meet and greet, I may attend one, but if I do no one will know who I am. Though I love my Navy and will defend her, I don't hesitate to call something horse exhaust when I see it. That particular bad habit of mine has already earned me at least a couple post deletions not the RTC FB page.

Mind you, I don't at all feel ashamed about it when I do. In fact, I sort of believe that we veterans and family members of service personnel have an obligation to be the advocates of today's young soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.

These kids are limited in their ability to defend themselves... and rightfully so. A constitutional republic requires a military that steers clear of the political. However, because of kids willingness to sacrifice, we civilians are not under similar constraints.

I am breath taxingly amazed at this site called Navy For Moms. I wonder though if you know how powerful you are? You ladies represent nearly every congressional district in the United States. Your children ARE the guardians. Some of you will hang blue stars from your windows and tragically, a few of you may hang Gold Stars. You are a powerful force and with that comes a responsibility.

Now for some straight shooting stuff.... You collectively failed. Some turd scabs in the legislative and executive branches decided to send perfectly good sailors home because some jack ass with a calculator said we had too many. Check it out, men and women with 12 years of their life standing watches at sea and missing children's birthdays are having the rug pulled out from under their feet because they didn't advance fast enough.

Yep.. Flipping brilliant... We'll fund the study of the mating rituals of an obscure rat and p!ss on the contribution of the very men and women who make academic freedom possible.

To my way of thinking, it's time y'all stood watch and let those congress critters have it the next time they get silly with your sailor.

The Navy may be powerful, but you group of women are probably more so.

The M & G's:

Well they only had the Ramada when I went to PIR last May...so that's the only one I know about. Half of us did the "talking" when the mic was offered...all Navy 4 Moms! It was nice and quiet...a little dark...but it was all we had!

Sarge started his about three to four months ago...there is a M & G time and then he talks about tips and info...he is a wealth of info...some like that some don't...they just want to M & G.

Flanagans...I "talked" with the gentleman who set up the event and he said they were the original M & G place years ago. Here is a link to our "conversation".

http://www.navyformoms.com/events/pir-2-17-2012-flanagan-s-meet-greet

IDK what to tell you really...I know it is hard with so many choices! Read about each one on their Event page.
