caryn321 - Your son was assigned to a leadership position. In the military, that pretty much makes him accountable for the actions of his subordinates. In essence, their failure becomes his failure. Depending on his RDC, a misfolded towel by shipmate could earn him a few extra push ups. Don't fret, your kid is not in any danger. He'll get some valuable experience and his entire division will learn a bit about their role in the chain of command.

Can someone tell me if you had to pick would you stay at the Ramada or Comfort Inn?

Captainfatso forgive my asking a dumb question but how does that title earn him bigger muscles - all I got out of it was he is calling out cadences. Sounds like torismom got a lot more info from her daughter but I guess that's typical. Anyone have anything good to say about their dental facilities - really wish we would have pulled wisdom teeth before he left but his dentist said it wasn't necessary...

torismom- Thats Great!!! Makes your weekend better !! So glad she is making it work. Funny about the hair, mine said she has a fro-which is close, and that she has to wear granny panties!!.

Comment by TorisMom on February 17, 2012 at 8:50pm

Yay!!!!  I got three letters from Tori today and she wrote my husband and her littlest brother. The letter she wrote the first day said she doesn't like it and they yell and call them lots of curse words and names. But the other letters written the first week and on the 12th she said the food is good. They clean a lot, things that are already spottless, her division won a flag and got sponsored. She said her hair is "too short and stupid". She said they "work them hardcore" but she doesn't regret joining. And best of all she has made some really great friendships. I do feel so much better. I am glad she is making it there, such a huge relief of worry is off of me.She is doing it!!!!!

Almost ever letter said several time "This is a very weird lifestyle" she's funny.

Alismz-our girls are making it!!!

Thank you all of you other moms for being here and sharing your joys and missing feelings, and also the funny news we are getting from our kids.

Caryn.. In addition to ironing and folding, the AROC title earns him bigger triceps and pectorals. ;P

Comment by Caryn321 on February 17, 2012 at 7:50pm
Got a letter today! Seems to be doing well said he's a AROC and seems pleased with that but has to get wisdom teeth out - hope they take good care of him! Ended his letter saying he needed to go iron and fold - what have they done with my child? :)
