Does anyone know if wifi is readily available while they are in A school at GL? Do they have to pay for it? Thanks.
What a great story, trandles. So typical of the comraderie that starts in bootcamp, continues in A School, and into duty station. The trials of bootcamp truly bond the SRs/sailors.
Amac: Too funny....poor guy...no telling how many times the f bomb has been shouted at him/shipmates since he arrived...but it is unfortunately pretty common. One of my son's RDCs never cussed...my son asked him why he didn't when the others used it so often. He told him that as a Christian, he saw no need to use profanity. Wow... My son told him that he had great respect for him for staying strong that way..
Thanks Amac23 I know it will but the wait is killing me. I'm so happy you all are sharing so I can be part of the good news. This is what we have been waiting for!!!!
Trandles- that made my day. What an extraordinary experience!
Hang in there, Katze- it WILL happen.
I got a 45 minute call today! I was so surprised to hear his voice! The cool thing is that I was at a get together at his moms house, so his whole family and best friend were there and got to say hi to him. Totally made his day. I cannot put in words how much I was hanging on his every word, haha.
One complaint: he dropped the f-bomb! This is a man who has had never touched a drug or even a cigarette his whole life, doesn't swear, clean cut, Bible reading sweetheart. I almost fell over!! I was silent in shock for a good ten seconds. "Did you just...did you just cuss at me?!"
Hahaha. Say it ain't so!!
Yeah for everyone getting such great news. Boo I feel left out with nothing to report! The wait is killing me. Maybe I can throw myself into a good book. Went to the movies to see Hunger Games. That took my mind off of things for 2 1/2 hours. Good movie, very intense!
Sorry I meant threw out his name.
My son called because his division 09/111 won the Captain's Cup. He was so on top of the world. I have to share with you what he told us. The toughest part for him was passing the run. On the last run several of his division mates surrounded him and they ran with him encouraging him the whole time. Telling him to keep going just a little bit longer. Because of the help of his "brothers" he passed his run test at 12:02. The entire division also voted him the most improved. Apparently when they were asked, someone through out his name and they all started chanting it. I can't stop crying over here. I am so proud of him and so grateful to everyone of those boys. They really came together as a team in the end and my son is a Sailor because of it.
Congrats to your sailor, Debbier!
I guess it should be....3 awards, not rewards! :-)
Dani: Yes, there are 3 rewards for Captain Cup: All-Male Division winner, Integrated (Male/Female) Division Winner, and Motivational winner. Sometimes the all-male or integrated division also wins the motivational. Congrats to today's winners!
