Hi Amac23 - Thanks for setting this up. My son is in same 09/112.  He just turned 19.  We are anxious to hear from him soon.  We booked at the SpringHill Suites.  They have a large room that can sleep 5 - we are bringing our younger son with us.

My pleasure! I am sure we are all in for quite a journey together! My husband is 31, so I am sure he is the old man of the group! Let's cross our fingers- this should be letter week for us :)

Received my first letter from my son yesterday! Amac23, just wanted to let you know that at 29 he is the 4th oldest in the group. I think age is definitly an advantage. If you haven't received letters yet, I'm hoping you all hear soon. Certainly takes the anxiety level down a few notches. lol

Ah, how exciting!! Maybe I will get one today :) It really would go a long way. Well, I am relieve to know there are a few others around his age. How is doing? Does he seem to be pulling through ok?

@ shermb, so glad you got your letter today!!! :) how exciting!! I'm going to go check the mailbox now (prayers) !!! how did he say he was doing???? please share :)

I got my letter! It was brief but very upbeat. He said he was being really challenged in every way and wouldn't have it any other way. It was so business like though :/ Anyhow, fingers crossed for you, proudnavymom!

Good evening all- how's everybody holding up? Any new news??

Haven't been on in a couple of days so I'm justing getting caught up with this board. In answer to all you questions, my son is doing fine as far as he says in his letter. They do get yelled at a lot but seems some of the younger recruits are having a little trouble controlling their talking. He said the time seems to be going fast because they are always busy. He sounded really upbeat and still has his sense of humor!:) How is everyone elses doing? Would love to hear.

Hi Shermb - thanks for update.  Glad you received a letter.  My son is probably one of them having trouble controlling himself (LOL).  He says he gets blacklined a lot for laughing - I guess this means some pretty intense exercise for him.  You would think he would learn after a while but he is a happy go lucky kind of kid.  He seemed really upbeat in his letter too.  Other then the emergency room visit and overnight stay in the hospital, he seemed fine.  He did not even say he was tired.  Hoping for maybe a call today - it will be three weeks this Wednesday so sitting by the phone today.

What happened that he was in the ER? Hope it wasn't anything serious.

Hard to believe it is going to be three weeks this Wednesday! I thought maybe we would get a call this weekend but none to be had. Anyone get a call? Well, have a good day ladies and will check back later.

Good morning, ship-sorta-mates!

No, no phone call here either! I'm sure we'll get some letters this week though. I'd love to hear if anyone's letters addresses anything pertinent to the ship. (ie, have they lost a lot of guys, what their higher ups are like, etc). My SR seems to be a little lacking in the 'giving information' department :)
