While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by diannep on March 31, 2012 at 1:35pm: Dawn: Too funny about the "background" noise during the phone call. Yep, when my son was up there, same thing happened. He had watch and missed their division call. The RDCs allowed him to call after his watch...so it was just him. He was tired and was leaning up against the wall as he talked...uh oh...I heard all kinds of yelling going on in the background, but nothing from my son...then in a very low whisper, he said Did you hear that? I got in trouble for leaning against the wall.

HA! They have to have "military bearing" at all times...as sailors too. He said he would "forget" and put his hand in his pocket when walking down the hallway at his Command and get in trouble. So they have to learn!

Diannep I've been trying to keep Mystic up to date being that we are brother divisions but not sure she is getting my messages. I saw the others she posted about BS and answered as soon as I saw them.

FTLW you truly are the best. Keeping us posted and answering our questions even holding our hands when we need it. Thank you

I am praying that they get another call sometime next week. Hang in there. Which meet and greet were you planning on going to? We are leaving early Thursday morning.

The performing divisions perform at one or two other graduations before their own so if he saw that many practicing for PIR then that could be the reason. In fact that is the only reason that makes any sense at all. Or maybe if he heard of 10 that would be going through Battle Stations 3 of them could be from the next PIR. Very strange. At PIR there will only be 7 divisions graduate. The Performing divisions don't march in like the other divisions. They come from different areas depending on if they are in band, choir, flags corp or drill team. Many of them are non performers and will work behind the scenes with VIP's or as greeters at different doors. It is amazing for a division to finish with the same number it started out with. I don't think that happens very often at all. What an accomplishment!!!
