rmwicpa:  People cry at PIR...happy tears...I was an absolute mess from the moment I walked in...pictures after PIR prove it!   I had on waterproof eye makeup...but lets just say...I think they are being falsely advertised as waterproof!

I still cry at the Coming Home show on Lifetime.  Guess I always will.  And my son is not even in the Navy anymore!  Just so proud of all of our servicemen!

Betsy Mom - Thank you so much.  It is happy crying and proud crying :).  I cried at his first Christmas program in daycare!  We were also wondering about why everyone leaves so early for the ceremony.  We are planning on driving with our rental car.  Since we are Pacific DS time - I am afraid it will be a struggle in morning to get everyone up super early.  I know that driving can be time consuming but it is a small PIR group from what I understand.  So if we don't want the coveted top seats against the wall - what is the latest we can leave our hotel?  We are staying 4 1/2 miles from base at the Springhill suites.  I don't want to be late for sure but really don't want to sit around waiting for 2 hours either.  Thanks for any advice.

rmwjcpa, Everyone will be crying, but they will be such happy tears because it  such an awesome experience. DesiSmileys.com  You will have a lot of company and won't embarrass yourself at all.   We always say make sure that you have waterproof makeup on and stop up on the tissues.  I actually started crying before I even got to the hall because of the anticipation of seeing my boy.

I am obviously going to embarrass myself at PIR based on my reaction to the video. I can't stop the tears. My SR might get mad if I cry! His phone call home-I could not even talk for a couple of seconds. He was like "Mom are you there? Calm down Mom." He was probably glad Dad answered the next call LOL. Please tell me people cry at PIR! I cry watching commercials so I am not a good judge of appropriate crying times! Thanks or sharing the video.

trandles, your SR may even let you know when would be a good time to cease the letters, but if not, it's a good plan to stop mailing them about 10 days to 2 weeks before the PIR date.  You are getting close to that time, so if you want to continue writing to preserve your thoughts while they are gone, just take the letters, that your write from now on, with you to PIR.  Your SR can read them then.  RTC does try to forward any mail, that arrives after PIR, to their A school as well, but nothing is guaranteed.  There is a possibility that some may not make it there.
