Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on March 22, 2012 at 9:31am: Thanks everyone :-) Amac, my Sailor is finished with boot and A-school and is based in VA Beach. There is something going on at the base that makes it almost impossible to get to and from the base. Last year she waiting in a line of cars for almost 5 hours to get on base just for them to tell them to go back home lol. So this time they gave them 4 days off and she got permission to go out of bounds and come home. YAY me. So that si why she is home for a few days.

I can't believe you guys only have two more weeks. The time since Christmas has just flown by.

My Sailor unexpectedly got 3 days off and decided to come home :-) So happy to see her today after 11 weeks. But I can tell you those 11 weeks didn't seem 1/10th as long as bootcamp :-) I hope you all had a great day. I will catch up on posts tomorrow ;-)
