OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. trandles:  That is wonderful news...not that you missed the call (so sorry...but glad he got to talk to others!) but that he is doing better!

Katze:  I ordered the division tshirts when my son was there...got the black ones.  They were very neat!

Comment by Mom of 3 (ship09/div111) on March 4, 2012 at 4:26pm

Thank you FTLW - I'm I glad I asked now rather than found out later.  We would never want to do anything to get our SR into any trouble.

FTLW got it thanks. Anyone else ever order these t-shirts? Were you happy with them?

This is not directed at you Mom of 3 but a general statement this subject has sparked:

And they do enforce their rules...Great Lakes and the surrounding area is a Naval Community. There are personnel out and about on PIR weekend...and your new Sailors are easily spotted and will be observed. They are held to a higher standard now as they not only represent themselves but the US Navy. So, know the general Liberty rules for yourself but follow their lead...they will be given an in-depth briefing by their Commanders.

Graduating Sailors must stay in within a 50 mile radius of RTC...based on that I would have to say ...no. :(

From the RTC Family Guide:(Italics mine)

When you take your Recruit out on liberty, we know you
will want to spend as much time with them as possible.
Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
 Your Recruit should be given ample time to walk to
their ship before the expiration of liberty.
 Recruits may not travel more than 50 miles from base
during liberty, meaning no further than downtown
Chicago.
 Recruits may not use alcohol or tobacco products, nor
drive a vehicle.
 Recruits must remain in uniform at all times.
 Recruits may not bring civilian items (clothes, mobile
phone, MP3 player, etc.) or food back to RTC.

We were hoping to go to a Milwaukee Brewers game on Sunday after PIR.  I googled the map from  RTC to the baseball park and it is 58 miles.  FTLW, do you know if that would be alright for my SR?

StratMom I just put that in my SR's letter today, funny you should mention it. I'm also putting it on my FB page to get the word out.

Comment by zStratMom on March 4, 2012 at 12:38pm

Families, I’m going to post this a couple of times . . . when you write your SRs, ask them to spread the word about Navy for Moms amongst the division, so the other SR's share with their families. The comfort and support of the N4M family, the questions that get answered and the info provided is of real value  . . . especially as you get closer to PIR. I went through one PIR without N4M, the other one with N4M. Being able to share the experience with this community is significantly different.
