Katze, I know you would rather have that letter in better condition but that is so sweet that his dog could smell him and wanted just a little piece of him :-) I bet your recruit will be so happy to hear this. Maybe he better write a little note to Sawyer and put his hands all over it so he can smell him really good :-)
Amac23, this exact same thing happened to me when my Sailor was there and I was the only one on this site for my daughters division who didn't get a call. Of course I was thinking the worst and worrying my self to death. But I bet he had dental work and probably had some wisdom teeth removed and was SIQ (sick in quarters). That is why my daughter missed her call and I can tell you she wasn't happy about it lol. But she did get to make the call up a couple days later :-) So keep your phone close hopefully he will be making that call sometime this weekend or Monday.
Thank you, Katze. I saw that the other wives/ moms in his ship and division got their calls this afternoon. I am so much more disappointed than I thought I would be. I guess I was really banking on that call :( I wish I knew why only he didnt get one. I wonder if it was watch whether he'd get to make it up....
By the way all you dog lovers out the will appreciate this story. So as I mentioned before we got our first real letter yesterday and in it my SR said how he missed us and especially his dog Sawyer. I got home last night around 9pm and sat down to read it. When I was done I placed it where I always put mail for my husband to look at it when he gets home from work at 11:30pm. Never had a problem before and I went up to bed around 11 pm. When I woke up in the morning I looked all over for the letter. When I looked where I left it last night I saw what I thought was a crumbled napkin. Turns out it was our first real letter from our SR!!!! Seems Sawyer picked up his sent and had one hell of a time getting it out of the envelope! Needless to say the body of the letter is wrinkled but still so what readable. Ugh guess we are not the only one to miss our SR!
My SR doesn't sound like he has gotten all 100 letters ( not really more like 15 LOL) I've sent him. At the end of the letter I got from him it says Please write me back so I know you got this! I know they have to train someone in that division to deliver mail and my head tells me I that he knows we are writing to him, but my heart says poor baby thinks we've moved on without him! Ugh this is hard.
Amac, maybe he was on watch, or the division lost the chance ect could be any number of reasons for no call. I got my first letter yesterday and it was pretty good. Now waiting on a call
In honor of Dr Seuss' birthday I thought some of you who were looking for gifts for your new Sailor may like the book "Oh The Place's You'll Go" I gave this book to my daughter for high school graduation :-)
“You're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So... get on your way!” :-)
Hi again, got the call around 3:20 (PST). He only could talk for a short time - about 20 minutes. He is sick (with cold) but overall was positive. He did not think he could call again until the last week. I guess he was on SIQ too and Light duty for awhile. He says the food makes his stomach hurt. He kept stressing how important it was to send him letters but he does not have much time to write back. Wow - there was so much I wanted to ask him but just ran out of time - I guess I should have written down my questions so I did not forget anything. He is in 09/112 - I hope others received calls today as well. :)
