Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Movin' on too. Continued blessings on your Navy journeys!!
Leaving this group....blessings to your new sailors! :-)
Greetings!
"Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden,
the God who is our Salvation."
Psalm 68:19
my2navygirls: Thanks for informing us that the Chapel was available to the extras. We have heard stories both ways in past PIRs. Some PIRs had extras who were allowed in; some PIRs had extras who were not. Not sure why they post what they do on the Family Guide asking all extras to stay off base as they have no "holding area." Hmmmm....but so glad that your Sailor daughter, other daughter, and husband (?) were able to get on base and watch in the Chapel. This will change how we advise future groups. Thanks so much for the info!
my2navygirls,
Hoping things will work out for your family today!! Have a great PIR weekend~~ :)
Happy Friday!
"For we are His workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that
we should walk in them."
Ephesians 2:10
my2navygirls: Please let us know if your daughter was allowed in without ID. Certainly sounds like she wouldn't be allowed in, but hoping that somehow....she got to go! Otherwise, hope she was able to watch the LiveStream with her dad at the hotel.
Hope all are enjoying PIR! It is THE BEST!
*I HOPE you have her birth certificate or social security card with you.....
my2navygirls: Did you bring any other form of ID for your 14 yr old? Here is what is required for those 17 and under, who do not have school ID or other govt issued photo ID (from Family Guide on RTC website):
"17 years or younger who do not possess one the items listed above must present one of the following: school ID card, driver’s permit, copy of their birth certificate or social security card."
She would need to have one of the above in order to get on base. There is no "overflow area." If not on the list, they cannot get on base.
Since I'm assuming that your 14 yr old IS on the list, I have you have her birth certificate of social security card with you so that she can go! If not, she will need to stay at the hotel with your husband and watch the PIR Livestream there...Many of the hotels will be streaming it.
I hope she can get in!
