for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Happy Friday!!
"Let each of you look out not only for one's own
interests, but also for the interests of others."
Philippians 2:4
Good Morning!
Hi Friends!
"It is God who arms me with strength
and makes my way perfect."
Psalm 18:32
Oh, and remember: You are welcome to meet them at the airport and with ID, get an airlines gate pass to wait with your sailor until departure! Make sure to confirm which airport at PIR! Some send their SR an index card with the following on it:
Date of departure
Time of departure
Airport of departure
Destination
They can fill this out and give it to you after PIR.
Ok, Thank you diannep! I'm from the west coast so staying through Monday just to take Chicago in for the first time, so I'm prepared for anything! *Crossing my fingers*
suddenlypam: They won't know their flight arrangements until after BattleStations, right before PIR. So it is best for you to try and make your return plans on Sunday if possible....just in case! Most of them will fly out on Sat, bussed to the airports late Fri night to wait for Sat. flights (they will be checking in around 3-4 a.m....tons of sailors there---first flights can go as early as 6 a.m. but some may not go until the afternoon). So you will at least have Fri after PIR with your new sailor until 8 or 9. Hopefully Sat. too! Your sailor will be able to tell you on PIR day.
OK, maybe this has been addressed before, but I'm not finding it. When will we find out if our SR will get the extra day liberty after Graduation? Is this a last minute thing? Will we find out from their end or at graduation? I'm splitting the Graduation day with an ex so we are trying to make the most of the little time we have. Thanks for the info!
Yes, nurse and mom of a navy sailor....it is sad that more don't know about this site or choose not to be on it. There is so much info on here, and many times, the families on here are the ones who give info to the SRs at Bootcamp! Recruiters tell the SRs about this site many times, but not all of the time. I didn't know about it (maybe my son just didn't tell me??? :-) ). After he left for Bootcamp in Nov 2009, I google searched for support and that is how I found this group. I am forever grateful! I hope that when you all are at PIR, you tell families you meet who don't know about this site about it. It is a godsend during A School and deployments too! So.....spread the word!
Good Morning!
nurse and mom of a navy sailor,
There are more, but only about 10% of the SRs' families are on Navy for Moms~~ There are about 88 recruits in each division.
