OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Tonya,

You will be able to meet the moms of SRs in the same division and brother division 923 (they train and do everything together, except if opposite sex, they shower/sleep in separate barracks) when the Discussion Forum is set up here in this PIR group soon~~  So hang in there!

jseven808,

Glad that you had so much support from the Navy when your mom passed so many years ago~~

If you or anyone else ever wants to turn off email notifications from Navy for Moms, just go to your Settings in the upper left of any page here, then Email, then you can unclick whatever you want to stop receiving the email messages on or choose all emails on the bottom--and be sure to click Save at the bottom, so your new Settings will go into effect.  I did that and when I come on here, I just go to when I last posted to read all the messages~~

Welcome everyone!! My email keeps giving feeds. Glad to know each one of you!! I forgot to mention.. My son belongs to Ship 11 DIV 141.
Jennie my heart goes out to you and your family. Cancer is no joke, and you know when my mom passed away from breast cancer 20 years ago. We had so
much support. I can not tell how grateful my dad and my two brothers ... Navy community supported us while through the grieving process.
In a happy note... If you need anything Jennie. I am here for you and your family.

Hello everyone!! Just got my form letter. I thought my son would be graduating a week later but the letter states 4/10/15. He is in division 144 ship 12. Anyone else have loved ones on this div/ship?
