N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

diannep Do we get a phone call if they are sent to FIT before P.I.R. or Is there any prior notification if a SR is not going to P.I.R on time?

christophersMom:  Hell Week is a very busy week for them, but they get through it.  It is also a "turnaround" week in that they get much more positive after this week since they only have 2 more weeks before they are sailors!  So keep the faith!

They have 3 PFAs.  The first two are more like practice, but all must pass the 3rd one in order to do BattleStations.  If they have not passed by their BattleStations date, they go into FIT DIVISION and keep trying.  They usually get 1-2 more chances in order to be at their PIR.  If they miss their PIR because they didn't pass, they will not have another PIR.  They stay in FIT, keep trying 3 times a week, and after about 10 tries, if they have not passed, they are discharged.  Most do pass....then do BattleStations and head to A School.  They would have a little Liberty after BattleStations before heading to A School if family lives close enough to get there and see them before they fly out.

Hope this explains some of it!

Good Morning All !

I think ellen0502 already took care of it.

My, the Meet & Greet has gotten really interactive from only a year ago!!  Three couples from each division?  That's a lot of people on the floor!  Fun!!!

@CatMom509, I have put the info with the Discussion. Would you, or Diannep, or Ellen be able to correct the Dance Competition song to "In the Navy"? Thank you :)

Sarge also wanted me to tell you all that there will be a Dance Contest at the Meet and Greet.  Each division needs to have 3 representive couple to dance to the Village People's YMCA and the winners will win  customized T-shirt.  He said that it is a LOT of fun and there is probably a video on FB from last week's meeting.

He also suggested doing a "Centerpiece contest" between Divisions.

Just got of the phone with Sarge.  He said that doing the Basket Raffle at his Meet and Greet would be a lot of fun plus helpful to him and his wife for the expenses  :)

Here is the plan: Anyone who wants to, can put together a "Basket" (can be a bag, basket, box, whatever) for the raffle.

We will set up our baskets with an index card next to it with the contents.  Also next to it will be a cup.

We will sell tickets: ($1 per ticket, 6 tickets for $5, 12 for $10, 25 for $20, etc)

If you want to win an item, you place however many tickets (to better your chances)  you want into the cup next to the item.  Then after supper, the winning ticket drawn from the cup for each item.  That way you are in the drawing for the basket you want.

If you want to do a basket, some ideas are:  something from your state, your favorite team, favorite hobby, etc... If you don't want to do a basket, a gift card could be raffled as well.

Getting excited about this!. :) 1) My scentsy lady is going to donate a US Navy warmer. 2) found a cute bowl with anchors, think it would make good popcorn bowl. Thinking about doing Movie Night basket. :)
