~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thank you ellen :) The Phase info you provided is great and I also found info about leadership/jobs that I was wondering about. RTC Recruit Leadership
I still have questions about recruit jobs: What jobs are "staff" vs "division" ? Thanks! :)
Stacy, We have just started hearing that about jumping phases in A School if Ship Staff in BC. Not sure where or why it started.
Jumping to Phase two would mean skipping INDOC and the restrictions of Phase I, they would immediately have liberty privileges and be able to wear civies etc. This doesn't happen from what we have been told. They still have time in school restrictions etc. Everyone that starts at A School basically starts over.
christophersMom, Perhaps it would be ROC. :)
I got a letter today :D My fav quote from it: "T-shirts and Jeans float in my dreams" lol. He said Hell Week started yesterday. I do have a question for the N4M veteran moms: My SR said that he joined "ship staff" instead of Divisional staff and that would enable him to jump to Phase 2 of A School. What does that mean?
Love the postcards - going to to borrow that idea too! :)
RuthB & Rhonda- bummer about not getting a letter. Hopefully you get something soon. :)
No rule against postcards, but do remember everything is seen on a post card, and even the smallest of reasons gives the RDCs enough reason for some IT. :)
That cute bunny postcard may seem harmless, but they may nickname your SR Thumper. That picture of a train, he/she may have a nickname Caboose. Those flowers in the field suddenly your SR is Daisy. That postcard from Disney Land, it's now Minnie. That beautiful sunrise, "Good morning Sunshine how about a few push ups?", etc.
Be careful what you send!!
I found these postcards (link below) and the girls love them. It's gives them drawing/thinking prompts, so they have a starting place with their postcards. The creativity is always flowing these days... FUN!
@christophersMom - We've been sending lots of postcards (it's easy to send one daily, if/when we don't have time to write a long letter), so I hope there's no rule against it. I know he's been receiving them. His sisters have some postcards for kids and they draw/write on them and mail them a couple of times a week. He's been loving their Picasso-like artwork, so I know he's receiving them.
RuthB,
You will probably receive something next week too~~ When he calls, remind him you would still love letters even if you just spoke to him the day before... Maybe he can tell you his rating (job) over the phone? Have a list of questions to ask him as in our excitement of hearing from them, what we want to know just flies out of our mind!
Rhonda,
Thankful for a thoughtful girlfriend to share with you~ Hope she reminds him that he should write to his Momma!! You will probably receive a goodie in the mail next week!!
