Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

ten571:  I believe that your division/brother division is in Training Week 2.  I think they should be starting Training Week 3 by mid-week.  Remember, training weeks are not the same as bootcamp weeks...because bootcamp weeks include processing days when they arrived and some down days between BattleStations and PIR.  They have 6 actual Training Weeks.

Ruth:  That is fine to include a questionnaire...but try not to make the envelope thick or he has to open in front of the RDCs.  Not sure that the recruiter can help out with the mail issue but you can ask....so, he had been receiving all of the gf's letters but not yours?  Is that your understanding?  That would be strange...

Good Morning All !

Good morning and God Bless you and all of our SR's today!

@Ten571 that's a great idea, I didn't think to make a list of questions to ask when he calls. I just usually get caught up in the moment and say whatever comes to mind. I'm going to start my list :)

@catmom I'm going to take a look at those tips on PIR, thanks!

Comment by RuthB13 on March 8, 2014 at 10:05am
@catmom Love the tips...thanks a bunch for taking the time to put all of that info down!
@ Shannon: that song is incredible! And would be grabbed up in a heartbeat in the music community. You need to patent it immediately and do not post it anymore. Someone could grab it and throw a a few different words in it and steal it from you...it's a terrible thing to think of but it happens. It happened to my cousin. You a great song writer. Do you have music to go with it? You know what I'm thinking? THE ELLEN SHOW!!! You'd be perfect

Thanks everyone for address and zip info...

So who knows. Maybe it's like Diane says. He gets my letters after he writes but the way he wrote the letter it sounded like he hasn't received a single one. Anyway, thanks all. Ill take this up with the recruiter. I am going to put a letter in with his girlfriends. Can we send them a questionnaire and return addressed envelope. So I can see if he's getting my letter. He's not answering any of my questions and asking me the same ones over as if I'm not answering him. This would sum it up

Hello Everyone,

I just put up my "PERTINENT PIR TIPS" up in the Discussion Forum!  Please check it out for any tips you can use for your own PIR~~

The RTC has finally confirmed the number of divisions for this TG. There are nine divisions so 4 guests will be allowed at PIR.
