~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Sherry: A great idea! Be sure that if a class writes to the division members, they put the letters in a large envelope and address it to your SR. RTC will not deliver letters addressed in general to the SRs of a division....a particular SR's name has to be on the envelope and then that SR can pass out the letters. Have them put a return address on their individual letters since many of these SRs will write back!

And, no, you don't sound like an idiot! :-) Please ask any questions you like!
When my son was at bootcamp, I called a couple of his favorite teachers and asked if they could write to him. He had been out of high school for about 5 yrs, but he really liked these teachers. One had a son his age in the Army so she was happy to do this---the other one was too. It meant alot to him. So if your child has any mentors in his life who you would like to write to him/her, be sure to ask! You would be surprised at how many would be happy to write to your SR!
Thanks everyone for the flight info!!!! Much appreciated!
diannep- Thanks a bunch…i'll check rates out tomorrow…but what is one way specials? i can't find them on their site. is it something i have to call and for…i'm sorry if i sound like idiot.
JRH- thanks so much for doing all that work! i never thought to check to leave on monday…but i'd have to convince my husband to give up another vacation day..lol now i'm cutting into his hunting time…ugh. and another night at the hotel and car rental so probably not saving much…but i sooo appreciate it! it was really nice…thank you ever so much
Catmom509 that's my thoughts exactly! Immeasurably more than we could ask for or imagine. This reminds me of the day my son left for MEPS. He had to go 3 different times, 1st- for original testing, 2nd-had to come back for x-rays, 3rd-for final night before heading to DFW to fly to IL. One of his fears was having to fly alone (although he has flown several times, just never alone). The first two times he went only 1 person each time was leaving for boot camp...alone. After we prayed about this God answered. He was to leave on his flight Wednesday morning. The weather was bad in Dallas and all of the other recruits from the previous days flights were delayed until WEDNESDAY (which is HIGHLY unusual for Dallas)...leaving him 10 OTHER RECRUITS to fly with. Crazy cool huh? This told me that even when I couldn't take care of my son God could, and would, and DID. Immeasurably more than I could have asked for imagined. I thought 1 would have been nice...he answered 10 fold. Sometimes He gives us up front something we need to help carry us through until the end. I was never "in control" of the situation anyways, but HE was. I heard it loud and clear.
Hello All!
"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably
more than all we ask or imagine, according
to His power that is at work within us,
to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations for ever and ever. Amen."
Ephesians 3:20
ah that's great never too many letters for these guys
I just put a post on FB asking if any of my "teacher friends" would be interested in "helping me with a little project". I asked if their class would write to DIV 139 to be sure everyone knows that they are supported and appreciated. I hope I get a big reply!!!! Yes, both my husband and myself are unemployed so driving is pretty much the only option we have. I surely don't mind a road trip, especially for this!!! It'll take about 13-14 hours if the roads are in good condition. That will be so fun to surprise him with grandma!!! That's really cool.
