OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

If your son is on ship 3 div 137 make sure you write letters! My son said he was sad because he had 19 letters so far and a lot of people didn't have any. I am going to send some extra cards today for the other kids to open. This is the only thing they have that keeps them connected to the world outside. This will make their time go by faster.

I got another call Saturday night. I cannot believe he has already called twice. It makes these long days so much more bearable! He is doing better than I am.

Good Morning!

Stefanie>  No, Navy Lodge booked in your SR's name allows you to have the room courtesy of his military ID.  You can check him without him...they may ask him to stop by during Liberty to confirm.

CatMomma:  We had the same size suite at Residence and enjoyed our visit very much!  Worked out great for us.  Don't forget that they have a free hot breakfast for you in the morning!

We have stayed at that Residence in before and it was very nice. We had a one bedroom suite. Very comfortable. We got a call from my son on Saturday! He is having a great time so far and remains happy with his decision to join. He even likes the food. He sounded the same but with a more confident, manly sound. It could have been my imagination because how can that happen in 2 weeks? Anyway, the timing of the call was perfect, as my husband and I were together and had just left a noisy gathering and were sitting in the car when the phone rang. I wouldn't have heard the phone five minutes earlier or five minutes later.

Our family is staying at the Residence Inn.  We got a suite with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room and kitchen.  With 3 of us and our sailor, we figured we could use the extra space and feel like home.  After we each lunch at a restaurant, I'm sure our son will want to just hang out at the hotel, take a long shower, lounge in comfy clothes, watch sports, look at his laptop, and eat homemade cookies.

diannep I booked a room at Navy lodge I booked it in my SR name. I seen that you said we needed a military ID to stay there do we need it to check in? Little confused.

Got our room booked la quinta in bannockburn. They have a pool which will help entertain my 11 yr old.. Also a great cancellation policy since were not sure when we will b checking out. The woman at the front desk gave us a good discount and said we would b better to reserve it for more nights than not theres something else not Navy related going on that same weekend so rooms could get hard to find. Get em booked now while u still can. Moms need to see their Sailors PIR♥
