~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I just checked with my other son that is also in the Navy, he said no you can't get in trouble for to much mail, but that is a very busy DIV, he was in it, & he may not have time to read so much.. But won't be in trouble mama:-)
AE2Rico.. my first son was in the 900 Division lookup the history of it and how they perform at other PIRs. They are 1st at their PIR also, you won't be able to talk but you can follow him walking around . It's very exciting
Lu P: Absolutely NOT! Please keep sending letters, letters, letters! They live for mail! And tell Grampa to write too! :-)
Also, we have heard in previous groups that mail was not given to some divisions for a few days for punishment, but one of our sources in GL had told us that is not allowed. So not sure about that. We haven't heard it happening often.
My guess on not hearing from your SR yet is what you said...very busy right now...Remember, the mail is held from them for about 2 weeks after they arrive at Bootcamp until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained to handle the mail....at that time, they receive this mail and get M-F mail delivery after that. They also can mail out their first letters to you then. They can only mail out letters on Mondays.
Good Morning All !
Hi CatMomma. Thanks so much!! We received our first personal letter from our son (Ship 09 DIV 139) yesterday.... WOO HOOO!! Still doing the happy dance. We haven't received a phone call yet, but hopefully that will come soon. I'll post a few details of his letter shortly because I was SO excited to get it... and so thrilled when other proud moms posted news from their letters. My son said in his letter that they were allowed to write as soon as they arrived, but couldn't mail anything out until the day he mailed his letter out to us (the 24th). That seemed to be the hardest part for him....being able to write, but having to hold his letters until allowed to start sending mail. For a guy who has never been so touchy-feely, he really wanted to get word to us that he was okay and missed us. He's growing and maturing already. :) I'll bet your first letter will be arriving very soon.
Kitchen Kimmi, christophersMom, shamrock 99, FreshSqueezed and Lita ... it looks like all of our young men are in Div 139. Wishing the best for you and your recruit through this adventure!
Hello! My son is in Ship 09 Div 139. I have received a box and a form letter, but no call yet. I have no idea if he has received our letters. I feel more connected to him by being with all of you on this forum. Thank you for being here!
Does anyone know that if a SR receives 'too much letters', this could get them IT? Or if 'punishment' would consist of not being allowed to write at all? Both sound crazy to me, but Grampa seems to think I sent way too much letters (about 30 in the last 9 days) and that's the reason we haven't heard from our SR yet....even though his division, 922 is a performing division, and is probably very busy.....
Stefanie, You can't share the password, but you can print a pass for him, since you will be taking two cars to PIR.
