N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good Morning!

Some of the lower-numbered divisions should be finishing up week 6 by this Thurs (training weeks (6), not Bootcamp weeks (8)).  The others will be finished in the next few days, with the final group of divisions going through BattleStations next Tues night.  Some of the higher numbered divisions may be just starting week 6 today or tomorrow.

Rainbow:  RTC asks that all "extras" stay off base during PIR and watch the Livestream at your hotel (many hotels stream it in public areas)---meeting up with your sailor after PIR.  Although the Livestream is shown in the Chapel, we have heard in some PIR groups that extras were not allowed in there....there were only special circumstances that allowed some to enter.  If your nephew decides to try and get in anyway, make sure he has return transportation to the hotel in case he is denied.  Here is what RTC posts in their Family Guide (on the RTC site) about extras at PIR:

ALL GUESTS 3 AND OLDER MUST BE LISTED ON THE ACCESS LIST. No exceptions will be made for active duty service members or retired military personnel. Children age 2 and younger do not need to be listed on the access list and will not count toward the maximum number of guests. Please do not call or e-mail RTC for additional seats. Those who are not on the access list should remain off base and meet with their Sailor once he or she commences off base daytime liberty. We do not have a designated waiting area nor do we have a standby line."

Your SR's will fill out a Final Access List and turn it in to Security about a week to ten days before PIR with the legal names of their intended guests.

Once this list is turned in it cannot be changed. Security then forms the Master Guest List for the security checkpoint at PIR.

563: No that's not going to be a problem I read somewhere they all do that my form letter had mom on it too, I think they change it later on but ask DIANNEP OR LEMONELEPHANT TO BE SURE....
Comment by ellen0502 on April 7, 2015 at 3:28am

563, Sometime In the last couple weeks of BC your SRs had to list the names of those who will be attending PIR. It is those names that are used, not the names on the form letter. :)

When they are filling out the form letter they are getting yelled instructions and to hurry up, puts the mind in a "What/Who do I write down?" state. I am sure all is well. :)

So here is something I noticed. My SR put down the names mom, dad, brother, sister on his guest list. I asked him to check into this as my ID doesn't say mom. but no word back as they are so busy. Anybody think this will be a problem?

Comment by Rainbow on April 7, 2015 at 12:15am
I will be watching the graduation ceremony with my family of four, and my adult nephew will be staying at the hotel watching it on live stream. my SR. thought that maybe my nephew can watch the ceremony live stream from the chapel on base and stated he will inquire of it. Any information is appreciated.

proudmomma50, I don't know what week or day divisions 149/150 are in, but guessing by day of the week to PIR, and when BS starts for this group, they are probably just finishing up week 5.

Comment by proudmomma50 on April 6, 2015 at 8:17pm

Thank you ellen0502.  I was just trying to find out if I could cross off the week of Fire Fighting/Gas Chamber Tests.  I haven't heard from our SR so I was lost to what week they are on.  I have a calendar crossing off the days. :)

We are almost down to single digit for days until PIR... I was doing pretty well with emotions for the past few weeks. But WOW did Easter hit hard. Unfortunately my SR hasnt provided me with much information. So thank you all for posting infomration from your loved ones. I have to say you all have been so wonderful through all of this...
