Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Do you know where your SR brother's A school will be? If it is in Great Lakes, you will have the whole weekend after PIR during the day with him, if not at Great Lakes, he will probably fly out on Saturday~~

The Dog Pack, PIR is a set time for all recruits in the TG. They are not allowed off the RTC base until after PIR regardless of when they finish BS, which is their final test.

Hello to ALL,
My younger brother is in Div 148. and yes counting down date to see him to at Grad. So I have a question all vet members. Is it true that is a recruit passes all test in time, they can Friday Graduation. in our case Friday 4/18/14. So he would be able to leave on Wed 4/16/14 and Thurs 4/17/14 of ourse they have to go back to sleep. I mean leave just a little while on Set Wed and Thurs. Pls let me know. I Thank You in advance for your time and attention.

Not too long ago I hadn't seen my son online in a couple weeks, I figured it meant he was out to sea somewhere. It was another two weeks before that pretty green dot appeared letting me know he was out there somewhere, yet no contact...he couldn't. I did feel better knowing he was OK though.
A week later on came that pretty green dot again, and I got a "Hi Mom, what's up?". I replied, "Guessing you were out floating in your boat." His response, "Lol. Yep back home now."
I don't get to talk to him very often, only once and a while, and it is video chat, because he is 4000 miles away, but sometimes just the smallest green dot can make a mothers heart feel better, even if there is no "Hi Mom!!" :)

ellen0502 is right. When they are out in fleet, the time of no contact at all will be longer~~ Or how about when they can contact you, but choose not to...they go through that too.

This is boot camp for moms too. :) During A School they will have more contact, but out in the fleet be prepared, you might not here from them in weeks, and you have no idea where they are or what they are doing.
Hang in there BC is a defined number of weeks, the silence won't be forever. :)

I too would like to hear something besides "radio silence"........understand No News is Good News. But no phone calls or letters is very trying on a Moms Heart.
