OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

So Hell Week starts for our division tomorrow!  Extra prayers being said tonight!  Ivall3 we live in CT.  We will fly into Milwaukee on 4.17 late morning arrival and we are staying at the Courtyard Marriott - Waukegan. My son's closing line in his letter was "i love you guys, i miss you and i'll see you in my dress blues soon."  my goodness...i felt my heart just melt when i read that!  So proud of him.  What are your plans?

I am so glad for what I have received but is been so long and nothing. I guess the blessed thing is he has oh many other people that have written him he feels the need to write back. I don't mean to sound selfish but something soon would be nice, anything....
I am so glad you also have been blessed with hearing from your son. I am sorry it's been awhile for you also, except for the letter today. It must be the division.
Is it correct that HELL week starts tomorrow?
Where do you live? Did you get a hotel room yet?

Ivall3! I know...28 more days...i have a countdown clock on my cell phone w/ his picture. I remember when it said 69 days. We are getting there!  Got a letter today, and was so happy.  At first we received 3 long phone calls followed by a stack of letters and the past few weeks have been nothing!  i think we were spoiled. So today's letter was such a thrill!  He said he hasn't written as much as the start because things have gotten busier and at night, which is the only time to write, he's tired.  It's all good. He sounds great and can't wait to see him!  Hope you're well :)

Rhonda, Are you asking about the week/day (like 4-1), of training that is being talked about?
