Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

It has been like Siberia in Illinois this winter! I'm sure our boys will sacrifice some shut-eye & sneak in a letter or two before graduation. :)

We lived in Chicagoland (Aurora) for four years, and I couldn't get back south fast enough. I can't imagine weathering through this year's winter. It's even been cold here in NC. I know how you feel about letters. If sleep is the other option, I'll hear from him at graduation:)

Lisa, Momma4, and Morganna I, too was bombarded with bills and junk mail. Huntersmom--I fear I may not get many letters from my son if it will cut into his sleep time! :) Leach73 and the other mommas of those wonderful, talkative daughters might be the fortunate ones in the letter writing department. :) 3 letters?!? What a blessing! Regarding weather, I am in Illinois and it was 60 degrees yesterday, but we woke up to snow this morning. I LOVE the MidWest!! Michelle-Reese's Mom, you can relate to this, I think!

Michelle-Reese's mom, thanks for the news that Div. 145 won the trivia question. I can't wait to see the pic of the group!!!
I wish i could be a fly on the wall everyday just to see my SR and I am so happy that I will at least be able to see her in a group foto.
SammyJ101, on the last sheet of paper of her letter, the paper was a little crinkly and she pointed to the spots and said they were her tears!!! In parts of her letters i could read the happiness and in other parts the not so happiness:(
breaks my heart but I know she push thru.

That's great Leach - I know they are all going through a lot of emotions right now during these first few weeks. But things will get better as they work more and more as a team. It's great to hear she got section leader too!

Got 3 letters today. My SR poured her heart out and I could read the emotional roller coaster she is on. She says she is getting along great with the guys and gals in her Div. but that they have had some tough days and have shed tears together. She also told me that she is a section leader so I guess that means she will be in front of the group during PIR...omg!! I can't wait to see her and all of the brave and courageous young men and women that are giving selflessly for our country. God bless them all!!
