~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I'm really bummed because we didn't get a phone call from our son yesterday. Hoping he was just on watch and will maybe get to call today.

I'm with your Michelle. I always make sure my phone is with me. I panic when I realize I have left it in the another room and that I might not be able to hear it ring!

Thanks Mitch! That's the same time my son tried calling. His girl friend was at work and not allowed to access her phone. :( wish he had called me... Mama is never without her phone! Lol
Thanks for all the help diannep!

So very sorry, Michelle.  Although the SRs may be told there will no more phones calls, many times, there are.  They can be awarded them, etc.  So in the future, everyone should always have phones glued to them!  Hope there is another one that is not missed!

Good Morning All !

Re: the letters, many times when they first get to write, they have not received your letters yet (held for the first couple of weeks of Bootcamp until the Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained).  Those letters were distributed after they wrote a letter to you.  So many will ask in their letters why you have not written.  THAT is why...they received your letters after they had written to you.

I don't know if there is any rhyme or reason to the calls.  My son called about 7:30 last night.  The call was 3 minutes on the dot, but I did get to find out he got a pile of letters on Friday:)

My son called his girl friend today and she missed the call. That makes me so sad. I didn't think there would be any more phone calls until after battle stations. :(

So glad to hear all of the boys seem in good form:)  I got a letter today, too.  He said he wrote it on March 2, so he is probably just starting to get our family's letters.

Thats awesome news, Lisa ! I got a phone call from my Fiance as well and he sounds amazing. His spirit is still bright and beautiful. He says he misses home and misses me so much. I miss him too, but it was really good hearing. His voice and receiving his letters as well. 6 more Fridays to go until PIR. Hang in there!

diannep: thanks for the thumbs up re: the courtyard.we are booked and all set then!

just got back from seeing our daughter at uconn and no letter from our son :(   We had a lovely day and that would have been the cherry on top.  OMG...as i was typing this the phone rang and it was my son!!  He sounds great...the only thing is he said he underestimated how homesick he would be and really misses us.   He said he has written about 12 letters and there was some kind of mix up with Div 143's mail, so we'll probably get them sometime soon.  He said  he is journaling his days in letter form to us to have when he is done with BC. Can't wait to get them!!!   Feeling much better now...not only was his call a BIG cherry on top, it was whipped cream and sprinkles too :)
