OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

@ Debi - oh wow that is exciting!!  i think my SR wanted MM - that sound right? i can't remember but hope he gets what he wants!  My mom just called and got 3 letters in one envelope today - can't wait to get off work and go check my mail!!!! i am behind - what is IT again?

Comment by Debi on March 14, 2013 at 2:15pm

LOL I love the nick name for ship 3..cause they are full of "grace" according to my SR as in needing lots of IT to get better LOL . Thanks for the shout out Bangie :) PIR cannot come quickly enough!!

I was happy to get my call yesterday! Tonight I have to run parent/teacher conferences at school until 6:30pm. I'd hate to have to stop a conference and talk to my SR.since there is NO way I'd tell him I'm busy and can't talk! LOL I can just hear what my principal would say about that one!

If I'm not mistaken Bangie and Melindy today our sr's were going to pick their specific rate for Nuke :) E said they'd know in a week or so if they got what they asked for. Kind of an exciting day!
