Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

You don't have to friend anyone. Just put in U.S. Navy Recruit Training in the search bar. Just click an you can see the pictures.

Good Evening MOMS- First I want to thank everyone for their support otherwise I would of of lost it by now!! You guys are the best!! And to everyone about No letters Hopefull tomorrow will be a call or letter!! Lets pray for tomorrow! I will keep my fingers crossed for everyone in every Div-all momas need letters!!

I can't help but to be comforted by this website. I can't imagine what would be going through my head, had I not known other mothers that are going through the same thing. I am so grateful (and I'm sure my hubby is to) to have an outlet as rich as this one.... Thank you to all the SR Mom's past present and future that make this a soft spot to fall !
Now, It's Friday night, I have no work responsibilities and it's time for a tall glass of wine !

Thank you for your help. Had no idea and never go anywhere to Boot!
I am going thursday in am with southwest into Midway and leaving Sunday 5:15 from midway -the flights are so expensive from where I am but this works the best!

Midway is the furthest...at least an hour away and usually longer with traffic. Ohare and Milwaukee are 35 to 45 minutes from GL. Milwaukee is a great choice for the reasons TJCsMom mentioned. Just remember that if your sailor is flying out and you plan an airport visit with him/her, they will fly from either OHare or Midway. So make sure you book your own return Sunday if at all possible, or later Sat night. The sailors flying out usually do this on Saturday, but occasionally they can't get flights until Sunday.
Checkout fares on Southwest Airlines into Milwaukee or Midway....no change fee if your SR is delayed in training (happened to me), and 2 bags check for free. If you have to change, you only pay difference in fare and it COULD be cheaper then. They also run many specials so check that out too.
