Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi is anyone from ship 3 div 153. Is so can you tell me about the ribbons and what the plan is also how to order them.

Sandi:  They haven't announced the "switch over" date yet for the uniforms (blue to white).  So it is possible that they would be in whites for PIR, but will have to wait and see when Great Lakes announces the changeover.

I am so sorry I was MIA today. I have been super busy trying to get ahead on EVERYTHING lol because my Sailors are coming home for the weekend. They will be in late tonight but I won't see them until tomorrow morning. I am making a baby blanket with the name machine appliqued on it and it is so so soft :)

Thanks so much everyone for all the very nice comments and emails. I am blessed to have so many Navy Family friends that I have met on this site.

TJCsMom, I would have panicked with a call like that when my daughter was there lol. It is great that you got to talk to him and I hope everyone here gets some great calls and letters very soon :)

They are also told what they are to wear everyday, so no wardrobe choices in the morning.

Comment by Debi on March 7, 2013 at 9:08pm

LOL and here I thought they wouldn't have to worry about what to wear each day :) Goodness 5 uniforms is like 4 to many for some of our boys!! lol

Comment by Debi on March 7, 2013 at 9:04pm

Thanks TJCsMom..for the uniform info..another piece to tuck into the navy folder! :)

Comment by ellen0502 on March 7, 2013 at 8:58pm

They will be wearing their dress blues for PIR. The change to white is in May in Great Lakes (the exact date can change though).

Some bases never change, and others may change on a different date/month, it depends on where they are located.
