OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I got a letter today!! I sent my SR one of the questionnaires from the fun letter writing link and that's what he filled out and sent back. For div 153  3/3 was DOT 1-4 HOLD  So as of Tuesday this past week they should have started 2-1.

I can tell he liked the questionnaire since he added some little comments by some of the questions. Of course there were a few lines at the end. He said he's busy shining shoes and making his rack.

I don't know if there is a mom of an ADAMS here but your SR is my SR's rack mate ;)

I will post a Meet and Greet Discussion up above when we get the Discussion Forum area opened up :-)

Sarge and Flanagans have not updated there EVENTS yet (they are only up to 04/05) so I am waiting for that as well.

BUT, if you would like to take a peek at what each one is like here is a link to the 04/05 Meet and Greet Discussion. It has a brief synopsis of each one and links to the EVENT listed on this site for more details. (Do not RSVP on those though, you will be able to RSVP on yours once it is up.)

Ship 03 Div 154 Navy Mom !!  Can't wait for April 19th.  We were able to talk to our son last Sunday for about 15 min.  Sounded tired.  Gave him words of encouragement to get him through.

No letter today :( .  And I know I feel worse thinking he still hasn't received any of mine since the first one was mailed on Monday.  Think I will take a nap. Kinda a blah day now.

Thanks Diannep! Got it! I think... :) At least I know he is in Week 1 of Training. When he called Saturday and said he had not started training yet, I think my response was something like, "WHAT?! WTH have you been doing?" (At the time, I was thinking he's 10 days in! Right? LOL) Then he said it was ok, he would still graduate at the same time....I was good after that!!
